Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster is coming to Steam and mobile devices on September 8, 2021. The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games are remasters of the first six Final Fantasy titles, which have redone visuals that evoke the pixel art style of the original games as they first appeared on the NES and SNES.

The first three Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games were released as one package, with the remaining three Final Fantasy titles promised to arrive at a later date. Now, Square Enix has announced that FF4 Pixel Remaster is coming to PC and mobile devices on September 8. The game can be pre-ordered on Steam, with a 20% off pre-purchase bonus that's live until September 23. Those who pre-purchase the game will receive three songs from its soundtrack and two digital wallpapers.

FF4 is one of the best entries in the series and it's one of the most highly-regarded in Japan, which might explain why it has received so many rereleases, especially when compared to FF5 and FF6. FF4 Pixel Remaster is based on the original version of the game from '91, which means it won't contain the new content that was added in later Final Fantasy remakes, including the huge post-story additions in the Game Boy Advance version of the game.
