Final Fantasy XIV is one of the top MMORPGs in the world, and one of the top ways players spend their time is in the Golden Saucer, collecting its unique currency MGP so that they can get incredible prizes. These prizes range from gear to minions, and at the top end of MGP price points, unique mounts. Which are the best of the best in the game?

Heavy Hatchling

The Heavy Hatchling in Final Fantasy XIV

The Heavy Hatchling is one of the largest minions out there, available at the prize exchange for a reasonable 20,000 MGP.

Chocobos are a central part of the Final Fantasy universe, and the chubbier chocobos are especially beloved by the fanbase. The Heavy Hatchling is perfect for players who want to make a small first purchase before saving up for something bigger. As a minion, it's a constant part of the player's party, giving the player a good "bang for their buck" with the purchase.

Ponytails

Modern Aesthetics are a fun addition to the game that allows players to utilize more contemporary hairstyles. Ponytails are available for both male and female characters at a very low cost of 8,000 MGP.

The Ponytail is a fun and unique option that's available for an incredibly cheap price. Two successful rounds of a GATE like Leap of Faith will be enough to afford the ponytail hairstyle for the Warrior of Light. The ponytail buy is one of the most efficient possible, and it gives the player a permanent style change.

Adamantoise

Adamantoise nearing flight in Final Fantasy XIV

Adamantoise is the cheapest of the mounts available in the Golden Saucer. He can be bought for a mere 200,000 MGP, a high price overall, but low for mounts.

The only downside to the Adamantoise mount is that it doesn't come with the amazing soundtracks that Final Fantasy XIV mounts are known for, but it makes up for it with one of the best flying animations in the game. Kaiju fans will remember Gamera propelling himself through the air like a rocketship, and this turtle does the same.

Sabotender Weapons

The Sabotender weapons in Final Fantasy XIV

Sabotenders are the mascots of the Golden Saucer, and players can get level 1 weapons in their likeness for a mere 100,000 MGP.

While fans are playing Final Fantasy XIV's fantastic story mode, they'll quickly come across the ability to glamor weapons. With the ability to replace the look of their most powerful weapon with that of the goofy Sabotender Weapons, players can have their cactus katanas and spears for as long as they want while staying strong.

Gambler Gear

The Final Fantasy XIV Gambler Gear Set

The suave Gambler Gear Set costs 200,000 MGP total, but the bulk of that is in the 100,000 MGP cost for its iconic purple and black trenchcoat.

Similar to the Sabotender Weapons, players that like the gear don't need to worry about the power of the gear thanks to the glamor system. Even better than the weapons is the universality of the Gambler Gear. Players can use the Gambler Gear on any and all classes so long as they glamor it to the right armor.

Archon Throne

The Archon Throne in Final Fantasy XIV

The Archon Throne is an average cost mount by Gold Saucer standards, at 750,000 MGP. The flying throne is one of only two furniture mounts in the game, the other being a bed.

Flying around on a giant chair isn't the fantasy most have for mounts on an MMO, but the majority of Golden Saucer prizes are intentionally fun and unique. The Archon Throne certainly fits the bill, and the chair does have a certain "cool factor" when the player sits still on the strange mount. It's certainly a mount that will turn heads either way.

The Bees Knees Dance

Just like the "Modern Aesthetics" class of reward gives players unique styles of hair, the "Ballroom Etiquette" rewards give players unique dances like The Bees Knees for just 80,000 MGP.

Among the Final Fantasy XIV community, the Bees Knees dance is one of the most celebrated prizes from the golden saucer. Many players that go to the saucer pick up the dance, and players can be seen executing the emote all across Eorzea. Doing the Bees Knees dance after a raid is also a fun way to try to earn extra commendations.

Fenrir

Fenrir in Final Fantasy

Fenrir is the second most expensive mount at the Golden Saucer. The ice wolf can be purchased for a whopping 1 million MGP, five times the MGP needed for the cheapest Saucer mount.

Most of the mounts obtainable in the Golden Saucer can be a bit goofy. For fans wanting to traverse one of the best fantasy RPGs ever in something more serious, there's the great wolf Fenrir. Even among the more modern mounts, Fenrir holds up as one of the nicest looking and coolest mounts in the entire game.

Korpokkur Kolossus

Korpokkur Kolossus is an overgrown Korpokkur available at prize exchange for a stout (but reasonable, considering how good the mount is) 750,000 MGP.

If Fenrir is for those that want an especially cool mount, Korpokkur Kolossus is for those that want an especially cute mount. This adorable half-bird half-plant is so unique that it feels like something out of Pokémon. Korpokkur Kolossus is especially adorable with Lalafels, who can barely hang onto the strange bird.

Sabotender Emperador

The ultimate mascot of the Golden Saucer, Sabotender Emperador is a blow-up Sabotender comprised of many references to the Saucer itself. It does, however, cost an unbelievable 2 million MGP.

For fans of the Golden Saucer, Sabotender Emperador might be the best mount in Final Fantasy XIV. The Sabotender even plays the Saucer theme when flown. It's a very rare mount, takes an incredibly long time to get, and has a memorable design. For players lucky enough to hit the Cactpot Jackpot, Sabotender Emperador is the best option for the MGP.
