Twitter user Infilament recently published The Fighting Game Glossary, which contains over 650 terms from a variety of popular fighting games and over 200 video providing examples for various glossary items. Fighting games are immensely popular globally, with titles such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mortal Kombat 11, and Street Fighter V selling millions apiece and keeping large, enduring playerbases entertained.

According to industry sales data, the Super Smash Bros. franchise has sold over 65 million copies worldwide, and the Mortal Kombat franchise has sold approximately 54 million copies. The Tekken series has sold approximately 51 million - landing each extremely high on the best-selling video game franchise list. This shows there is a market for The Fighting Game Glossary, as there are always players new to a specific game that would likely be glad to jump right into a new community without having to struggle to learn more unique jargon.

Twitter user Infilament announced the publication of The Fighting Game Glossary, which he states has "over 650 terms carefully explained with 200+ video examples and Japanese translations." Infilament also shared their thanks to those those who helped them bring the impressive fighting game project to life in the announcement thread, where they also revealed the website took nine months to complete.

Helpfully, the site breaks down terms by their game affiliation. Currently, the Super Smash Bros. franchise has 55 terms specifically related to its titles, Street Fighter has 46, Tekken 29, Guilty Gear 28, and Killer Instinct 24 to round out the top five. Another neat inclusion is a "Term of the Day," which provides a given term from the glossary to passersby daily. Infilament also includes The Complete Killer Instinct Guide on the website, which they also produced.

The Fighting Game Glossary is a delight for fans of the fighting genre, much like the Game UI Database, published by UI Artist Ed Coates at the end of last year was for graphical designers inside the gaming industry. Hopefully, those finding use of Infilament's database will pitch in to support it, allowing them to spend even more time on this and similar projects.
