Throughout the year Ultimate Team in FIFA 23 introduces a host of promotions to keep players interested. One of the earliest promotions is Rulebreakers which was added to the game on the 14th of October. As with all promotions in FIFA, Rulebreakers brings new cards and variations of the world's best superstars that are included in packs for players to open and potentially add to an Ultimate Team squad. When placed in one of the best formations to use in Ultimate Team the Rulebreaker cards can greatly change a squad. As well as being added to packs Rulebreakers cards can also be picked up by completing objectives with some cards also available in the Squad Building Challenges making them available to all players.

Rulebreakers cards alter stars' key attributes with stats being flipped. For players known for being slow, this can see a large increase in the pace stat suddenly making certain stars more useable. The promotion first introduced in FIFA 21 is a popular one among players and can be key when building squads in the opening months of the game. New Rulebreakers cards are being dropped across set periods until the 28th of October with new stars receiving updates each week.

From the first week's cards, the highest-rated player is one of the best strikers in FIFA 23, Manchester United outcast Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star has seen his overall rating boosted from 90 to 91, with increased pace, dribbling and passing stats, at the expense of the shooting stat decreasing. While only a slight boost, Ronaldo's base card this year is his worst for over a decade and the Rulebreakers version is much more appealing for CR7 fans.

A French Blast From The Past

From week two the highest-rated card is a blast from the past as Frank Ribery receives a 90 overall card. The Frenchman who is coming towards the end of his career has received the biggest overall rating change in the promotion increasing from 76. High pace, shooting, and dribbling stats along with the rare five-star weak foot and five-star skills move ratings make Ribery an exciting addition to any club.

The fastest players in FIFA 23 are the most expensive for a reason. Pace is one of the most important stats in FIFA and Leonardo Bonucci is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Rulebreakers element as his pace rockets up from 54 up to 78 making him a defensive option for players. A host of other world-class defenders have also received new cards including Gerard Pique (89), Sergio Ramos(89), and David Alaba (88). Barcelona's Pique, while expensive, stands above the rest and contains better overall stats than Bonucci while being one of the fastest defenders so far in FIFA 23.

While only Ronaldo and Ribery are the only Rulebreakers that have broken the overall 90 rating barrier so far there are a host of other stars in the high 80s. Many of the highest-rated players from the Premier League have received new cards including, Thiago (89), Kai Havertz (88), Kalvin Phillips (87), Wilfried Zaha (86), Leon Bailey (86), Ben Godfrey(84) and Pervis Estupinan (83). Most gamers pick up Rulebreakers cards for players that normally don't have the pace to have an impact in FIFA which with increased stats become useable, but many other stars are now also worthwhile investing in. Rulebreakers are a great addition to the early stages of FIFA 23 Ultimate Team and by picking up the best of these cards players can make great improvements to any club.
