FIFA 22 has finally arrived, much to the delight of fans who were unfortunate enough to have endured the previous iteration of EA Sports’ colossal soccer franchise. By now, fans of FIFA’s Ultimate Team game mode have figured out who the best players in the game are, many of whom play in the Premier League.

As with every year, there are some players who perform beyond what their overall rating would suggest, and some players who fall short in this regard. The best players on FIFA necessarily require a combination of stats that align with the game’s meta, and there are plenty of Premier League players that meet these requirements in FIFA 22.

Alisson (89-Rated)

Despite being downgraded from a 90 to an 89, Alisson is still the highest-rated goalkeeper in the Premier League (tied with Ederson). Liverpool struggled with injuries to key defensive players during the 20/21 season, which inevitably meant that the team conceded more goals than they perhaps would ordinarily, thus affecting Alisson’s overall rating for FIFA 22.

However, Alisson’s stats are still very impressive. At 6 foot 3, he has 90 positioning, 89 reflexes, 86 diving, and 86 handling, making him one of the best goalkeepers in the game and certainly in line with FIFA 22’s goalkeeping meta.

Bruno Fernandes (88-Rated)

Manchester United’s ‘Portuguese Magnifico’ hit the ground running upon his arrival to the Premier League, breaking records left, right, and center. Despite his triumphant 20/21 season, Fernandes only received an increase of 1 to his overall rating from FIFA 21.

However, Fernandes still has one of the best cards in the Premier League, with every on-card stat being 70 or above. His most notable attributes include: 89 passing, 86 shooting, 84 dribbling, high/high work rates, and 4-star skills, making Fernandes one of the best CAM cards in the game.

Sadio Mané (89-Rated)

Like many of the Liverpool players, Mané received a downgrade following their disappointing 20/21 season. Despite his downgrade, Mané is still the highest-rated LW in the Premier League and one of the best left-sided gold players in the entire game.

Mané’s card has some impressive stats that are ideal for FIFA 22’s meta, most notably 91 pace, 89 dribbling (including 93 agility), 83 shooting, 4-star weak foot, and 4-star skills. With stats likes these, Mané certainly holds his own against the wealth of talent at LW/LM on FIFA 22, only being bested by Neymar Jr and Heung Min Son.

Raphaël Varane (86-Rated)

Serial winner Varane joins the Premier League’s impressive ranks in FIFA 22 after his transfer from Real Madrid to Manchester United last summer. Everybody who played FIFA 21 Ultimate Team knows how incredible Varane was at CB, and nothing has changed this time around.

Standing at 6 foot 3 inches, with 87 defending, 82 physicality, and an electric 82 pace, Varane maintains his position as one of the best center-backs in FIFA, and he is now certainly one of the best players in the Premier League.

Virgil Van Dijk (89-Rated)

Having fallen victim to a horrible injury that put him out for the entire 20/21 season, Van Dijk was always going to receive a rating downgrade in FIFA 22. Fortunately for Liverpool fans, Van Dijk is back and better than ever for the 21/22 season, and so is his FUT card.

As the highest-rated CB gold card on the game, Van Dijk is undoubtedly one of the best players in the Premier League. With 91 defending, 84 physicality, 78 pace, and of course a height of 6 foot 4, Van Dijk’s card is a defensive force to be reckoned with.

Mohamed Salah (89-Rated)

Salah is another Liverpool player whose overall rating has been downgraded due to the team’s disappointing 20/21 season. However, his individual accolades and performances were good enough to earn Salah an 89 rating in FIFA 22, with his card boasting some impressive stats.

Salah is by far the best RW in the Premier League and second-best only to Lionel Messi in terms of the entire game. With 90 pace, 90 dribbling, 87 shooting, 81 passing, and 4-star skills, it is no surprise that Salah is such a brilliant player on FIFA 22.

Heung Min Son (89-Rated)

Tottenham Hotspur superstar Son seems to get better and better every single year, with his FIFA 22 overall rating now at a career-high of 89. EA has rewarded his impressive 20/21 season with a card that any fan would be delighted to see pop up in their preview packs.

Son’s attributes are all highly desirable for a LM according to FIFA 22’s current meta and place him among the best players in the Premier League. His standout stats include: 88 pace, 87 shooting, 86 dribbling, 82 passing, 5-star weak foot, and 4-star skills.

Kevin De Bruyne (91-Rated)

Manchester City legend De Bruyne has consistently been within the upper-echelons of FIFA overall ratings for some years now; his 91 rating this year places him among the highest-rated players in FIFA 22. De Bruyne's ratings have been well-earned, and his FIFA 22 stats might just be his best yet.

As a CAM with 93 passing, 88 dribbling, 86 shooting, 78 physicality, 76 pace, 5-star weak foot, and 4-star skills, it is no surprise that De Bruyne is widely regarded not only as one of the best players in the Premier League but also as one of the best in the entire game.

N'Golo Kanté (90-Rated)

Champions League-winning midfielder Kanté extends his streak as the best gold CDM in FIFA, with his latest card being 90-rated overall. As one of the best midfield players in soccer history, it is only fair that he receives a FIFA card to match, although it will cost players quite a few coins.

Kanté has a very well-rounded card, with 87 defending, 83 physicality (including 97 stamina), 82 dribbling, 78 pace, and 75 passing. His stats are unrivaled at CDM, justifying his ranking as one of the best players in the Premier League.

Cristiano Ronaldo (91-Rated)

Widely considered to be the best soccer player of all time, Ronaldo has consistently received high-rated and incredibly effective FUT cards for many years. Although having been downgraded by 1, Ronaldo’s FIFA 22 card is still the best in the Premier League and arguably the best in the entire game.

Ronaldo has a whopping 93 shooting, 88 dribbling, 87 pace, 82 passing, 75 physicality (including 95 jumping), 4-star weak foot, and 5-star skills. No gold striker card on FIFA 22 Ultimate Team even comes close to matching Ronaldo, and those fortunate enough to use him will certainly have no issues in front of goal this year.
