While the majority of FIFA 21 players would prefer to play online, Career Mode remains a key part of the title. It allows players to manage any team on the planet, giving themselves as much or as little money as possible for new signings, creating one of the best ways to play the game. You can also completely transform sides, utilizing whatever funds you have at your disposal to go after the world's biggest trophies on offer.

And one thing players like to do is unearth future gems. Often signed for low amounts, they have the potential to become significant assets over the years ahead. So here are 10 of the best young goalkeepers to target (with all players on this list 20 or under).

Illan Meslier (Leeds United)

Leeds United have enjoyed an excellent first season back in the Premier League, having previously spent years hopping between the Championship and League 1. And it's been a fine season for Illan Meslier, who has managed to establish himself as the club's main goalkeeper, ahead of former Real Madrid star Kiko Casilla.

Meslier was 20 at the start of the season and, on FIFA 21, comes with a rating of 69. With the right training, however, the shot-stopper has the potential to achieve a rating of 81. Valued at close to $2million, he would definitely be a good player to target.

Gavin Bazunu (Manchester City)

It's hard being a young goalkeeper at Manchester City. They have seen Ederson shine ever since he arrived from Benfica back in the summer transfer window of 2016, with the Brazilian international on the verge of winning his third Premier League title in four years.

With that the case, City decided to send young Irish goalkeeper Gavin Baznunu to Rochdale on loan. He's been ever-present in their side and is poised to return to the Etihad Stadium at the end of the campaign. FIFA 21 players can sign him for as little as $500,000 and, if treated right, can get his rating up to 82.

Filip Jorgensen (Villarreal)

Spanish side Villarreal have had some top goalkeepers over the years, from Mariano Barbosa - who helped them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2006 - to ex-Real Madrid star Diego Lopez. And it seems like they have another gem in Filip Jorgensen if his FIFA statistics are anything to go by.

The Swedish goalkeeper is yet to make his debut for the club, but was included on the bench for the majority of their matches in the Europa League this term. He starts with a rating of 62 but, by the end, could be as high as 82. Priced at close to $700,000, he's another bargain buy for those operating on a tight budget.

Fortuño (Espanyol)

La Liga has always had some good young goalkeepers coming up through academies across Spain. But it seems as though bargains can be found as low down as Spain's second division as well. And making a name for himself in Segunda División B this term is Fortuño, who has made nine appearances in the competition at the current moment in time for Espanyol's B team.

He's another who originally starts at 62, but has the potential to become an 82-rated player. Signing him will be relatively straightforward and, like all of the other players on this list, he will need to be managed right to live up to his vast potential.

Marco Carnesecchi (Atalanta)

FIFA 21 Marco Carnesecchi

While Gianluigi Donnarumma is poised to be Italy's No 1 for the upcoming European Championships, the nation will require another top young goalkeeper to stop the AC Milan star from becoming complacent. One player who has been tipped to rival him for the No 1 jersey in the years ahead is Atalanta's Marco Carnesecchi, who has already represented his country 10 times for the Under-21s side.

If recruited, he can become special. Starting with a rating of 66, he's another who may end up falling in the 82-rated category. Atalanta has churned out some good young players in recent years, from Juventus' Dejan Kulusevski to Manchester United's Amad, so he looks like another one who will make it off the production line.

Diogo Costa (Porto)

FIFA 21 Diogo Costa

Aged just 20 at the start of the campaign, Diogo Costa has enjoyed a positive breakthrough season at Porto. He made his Champions League debut earlier in the season and has been backed to become No. 1 for club and country in the years ahead.

He's a little pricier than other players on this list, carrying a valuation of $3.1m. However, he would be worth the investment given his rating could soar to 82. That's one behind Rui Patricio, who is Portugal's No 1 goalkeeper for the time being.

Lucas Chevalier (Lille)

FIFA 21 Lucas Chevalier

Few thought Paris Saint-Germain would struggle to win Ligue 1 this season, having dominated the division ever since their takeover a decade ago. However, Lille has made a fight of things and is currently the favorite to lift the prize, with just a few remaining matches. And things could get even better for the French side if they coax the best from Lucas Chevalier in the coming years.

The team at EA Sports clearly thinks highly of the player, who turned 19 in November. He can rise from 61 rating to 83, which would make him one of the best goalkeepers in the world. And he's expected to get more action next season, having impressed for Lille II this term.

Christian Früchtl (Bayern Munich)

Bayern Munich is known for having some amazing and talented goalkeepers. Oliver Kahn and Manuel Neuer are two of the best shot-stoppers in their history and hopes are high that young Christian Fruchtl can follow in their footsteps.

Currently on loan at Bundesliga 1 club FC Nurnberg, FIFA players would be onto a winner with his signing. He starts at a respectable 66 but, by the end, has the potential to get to as high as 83. If fans decide to snap him up they will boast one of German football's most promising talents.

Nico Mantl (Red Bull Salzburg)

FIFA 21 Nico Mantl

Narrowly missing out on the top spot when it comes to FIFA 21's best young goalkeepers to sign is Nico Mantl. He struts his stuff in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg, who have picked up an impressive reputation for nurturing young talent. And while he's yet to make his debut, he appears to have shown great promise behind the scenes.

Giving him the right treatment of the training ground could see him achieve a rating of 83, putting him in the same bracket as Fruchtl and Chevalier.

Maarten Vandevoordt (Genk)

FIFA 21 Maarten Vandevoordt

Genk may not be winning the Champions League anytime soon - but they have boasted some pretty impressive wonderkids over the years. Kevin De Bruyne, Thibaut Courtois, Kalidou Koulibaly and Christian Benteke are just four names who have spent time with the Belgian side. And Maarten Vandevoordt could follow in their footsteps by joining a top European side in the foreseeable future.

With a potential rating of 87, he's in a league of his own. No other young 'keeper comes remotely close and, out of all the players on this list, he's the one fans should save their money for. If they do, they certainly won't regret it.
