Corgi lovers can finally make their dreams come true in Final Fantasy XIV with the newly introduced Corgi Minion, an adorable canine with stubby legs and a long stout body. According to the in-game lore description of this Minion, there are supposedly folktales in Eorzea that claim Lalafells once rode the creatures. Currently, only the Megashiba exists as the perfect Mount for dog lovers and a ridable canine for the smaller Lalafell race. However, there might be a chance of a future update bringing a ridable Corgi to Final Fantasy XIV, based on the hint in the Minion's description.

Regardless, most players will likely be content with the lovable Corgi Minion in Final Fantasy XIV, which can be obtained from a weekly late-game activity known as Faux Hollows. For those unfamiliar, Faux Hollows is a puzzle-like minigame similar to Wondrous Tails.

It involves clearing a specific Unreal Trial and speaking with the Faux Commander in Idyllshire. The NPC will grant players access to the minigame board, where they can find pictograms to earn Faux Leaves. Once Warriors of Light have accumulated 400 Faux Leaves, they will be able to purchase the Corgi Minion in Final Fantasy XIV.

Unlocking the Corgi Minion in FFXIV

Faux Commander NPC Standing on his Counter in Idyllshire in FFXIV

If new players would like to know where the Faux Commander can be found, YouTuber Meoni states that the Final Fantasy XIV NPC sits atop a counter in Idyllshire at the coordinates (X: 5.7, Y: 6.1). However, keep in mind that the commander does not offer Faux Hollows to anyone. Only those who have completed the entire Shadowbringers MSQ and the prerequisite quest, "Fantastic Mr. Faux," can participate in Faux Hollows to earn Faux Leaves and unlock the Corgi Minion in FFXIV. While the 400 currency cost might not sound like much, the amount of leaves that players earn every week is rather limited.

As of the current Patch 6.3: "Gods Revel, Lands Tremble," the featured Unreal Trial that FFXIV adventurers must clear for Faux Hollows is Containment Bay P1T6 (Unreal), which involves battling the goddess-like entity, Sophia. Like any Unreal Trial, completing the battle is far from easy and requires practice and research on how the boss's mechanics function. Therefore, players are encouraged to clear the Duty in an organized fashion with friends or known acquaintances in an FC. After defeating Sophia, players can return to the Faux Commander to start the Faux Hollows minigame. Remember to always search for the Dual Blades first for the free Retelling. This strategy maximizes players' weekly Faux Leaf income to quickly save up for the Corgi Minion in FFXIV.

    Summary:
Final Fantasy 14 (Final Fantasy XIV) is the fourteenth entry in the Final Fantasy franchise. It is an MMORPG that initially launched in 2010 before it was completely rebuilt from the ground up for a 2013 release as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. After the events of the 2010 iteration's conclusion, where the primal dragon Bahamut brings calamity to the land of Eorza, the player survives and is sent into the future by five years in a world that has begun to rebuild, but now thrust into the middle of a war from the Garlean Empire. As a consistently expanding world with an ever-scaling storyline, Final Fantasy XIV's narrative grows with each expansion, with the core experience still surrounding working with other players and NPCs as they level and customize their characters, engage in real-time events, and coordinate teams to enter massive dungeons to face raid bosses. The game is available to play with people of several nations and has a massive translatable vocabulary for players to be able to work with one another despite language barriers. The most recent expansion pack, Endwalker, was released in December of 2021 and follows the trend of each title releasing roughly every two years. Final Fantasy XIV is available as a free-to-play title up to level 60, where the game then transitions to a subscription model. The game is playable on Microsoft Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, as the PlayStation 3 version was shuttered in 2017.
