In Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, there is a level 83 quest, Strange Bedfellows, that players can do once they reach Garlemald. The quest requires players to speak with a series of NPCs and then survey locations to deal with enemies, but players can easily get stuck if they do not follow the order strictly. Additionally, the combat required in Strange Bedfellows can be tricky, as it involves using a specific item.

Players should speak with Lucia at Camp Broken Glass to begin the quest in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker. First, Lucia will advise the player she is seeking to understand the present situation better. Next, she will request that the player find Alisaie in the far northeastern corner of the region. Once players find Alisaie, she will instruct them to find Sabinianus located to the South in Tertium. From here, players will be instructed to find two other Imperials, Caeso, and Flavius. Caeso is steps away from Sabinianus while Flavius is inside the train. Players will then be instructed to find Alphinaud, the final NPC in the questline.

Once players find Alphinaud in the next train carriage, he will instruct them to survey four specific locations nearby and handle any enemies that may appear. He will advise the player that four points of interest have been marked on their map. During this scene, Alphinaud will mention that the player should only incapacitate Tempered Imperials rather than kill them. This is in keeping with the story in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker that Scions want to avoid unnecessary violence on Garlean soil. The designated locations Alphinaud requests to be surveyed will either contain monsters who ambush the player or Tempered Imperials waiting to attack. Players will know they have arrived at the correct location when they spot the glowing purple orb labeled "Destination" on the ground. As players stand in this spot, monsters such as a Wild Saiga will appear.

To travel faster between locations to defeat the enemies, players may want to ride a mount in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker. Of note, the Tempered Imperials players will encounter can enter a state that grants them immunity from death. To defeat the Tempered Imperials without killing them, players will need to use the item Conqueror's Chain after having dealt sufficient damage to the Imperial, indicated by the flashing red health bar when the Tempered Imperial kneels on the ground. Players will be gifted two Conqueror's Chain items to use on the two Tempered Imperials they will encounter during the quest.

Once players have defeated all monsters in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker at the fourth and final location for the Strange Bedfellows quest, players should speak with Thancred outside of Camp Broken Glass. To complete the quest, players should return to Lucia in the camp. Lucia will thank the player for their information and reflect on the state of the situation. Players will be rewarded with 468,600 EXP, 1202 Gil, and a Pewter Head Coffer for their efforts. In addition, completing Strange Bedfellows will unlock more missions for the player to finish, including the next quest, In From The Cold.
