Final Fantasy XIV’s next seasonal event - All Saints' Wake - is just around the corner, and fans can finally look forward to a belated in-game Halloween celebration with new rewards to unlock. Many fans weren't pleased when it was announced that FFXIV's 2021 All Saints’ Wake event was delayed for several months, especially because the event had already been canceled during the previous year due to the pandemic. This time, however, instead of skipping it completely, Square Enix decided to simply push it back for a while.
The event dates back to 2011, when the original version of FFXIV was still up and running. Then, after the release of A Realm Reborn in 2013, All Saints’ Wake returned, featuring a new story and new rewards in addition to the same rewards that were offered the first time around. The event came around every year for the next six years, until it was skipped in 2020 and postponed in 2021 as a consequence of the delayed release of FFXIV's Endwalker expansion.
FFXIV's All Saints' Wake event begins on January 20, 2022, at 12 a.m. (PST) and ends on February 2, 2022, at 6:59 a.m. (PST). Once the festivities have begun, players will be able to start the seasonal quest “All Clown’s Wake,” given by the Adventurers’ Guild Investigator in Old Gridania (X: 10.4, Y: 8.4). As the name of the quest implies, the story will center around clowns, which might be truly frightening for fans who are scared of them.
Rewards From FFXIV’s 2022 All Saints’ Wake Event
Past iterations of FFXIV’s All Saints’ Wake event have rewarded fans with gear themed after iconic Halloween staples like pumpkins, spirits, witches, vampires, and werewolves. Consistent with the upcoming event’s theme, a full set of clown gear will be available for players. Upon completion, players will also receive an achievement called “The Winners’ Club”.
Unfortunately, though FFXIV sometimes offers event-exclusive mounts or minions as rewards, this month’s celebration won’t. On the bright side, players who are excited for the clown theme will be pleased by the reward “Modern Cosmetics - Clowning Around”, which will unlock a clown face paint option in the character customization menu. Fans will also be able to get a tabletop decoration called a “Pumpkin Flower Vase” and an outdoor furnishing item called the “Haunted Pumpkin Set”. These are great rewards for the few players that have been able to obtain housing in one of FFXIV’s residential areas, but they may be underwhelming for those who have no place to put them aside from their retainer’s inventory.
Sales of FFXIV were suspended in December 2021 due to server congestion issues following the release of Endwalker. However, Square Enix recently announced that Final Fantasy XIV will be available to buy again on January 25, 2022, which means new players will have the opportunity to participate in the All Saints' Wake festivities instead of having to wait another year. The entire event is sure to be a blast—at least for anyone who isn't scared of clowns.
