Recently, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker fans were given a small look at the new Alliance Raid, Myths of the Realm. 24 players will group together to battle through the domain of the gods. As previously announced, the new Alliance Raid's story will heavily involve the mysterious deities known as The Twelve. Based on the brief footage released, the designs of the gods, and their realm, seem to take inspiration from Greek Mythology.

Myths of the Realm will arrive with the release of FFXIV: Endwalker Patch 6.1. Like most Raids in the game, the duty will be split into multiple sections. Level 90 adventurers will be able to challenge Part 1, titled Aglaia, on April 12, 2022. Players have accomplished great feats throughout their journey, but this new Raid looks to pit Warriors of Light against some truly powerful foes. Part 1 of Myths of the Realm appears to take place in a marble tower above the clouds. A parallel can be made to the Greek gods that lived above humanity on top of Mount Olympus. However, this is not the only comparison between The Twelve and Ancient Greek culture that can be made by fans.

In a Live Letter streamed on the official Final Fantasy XIV YouTube channel on April 1, 2022, Game Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida showcased the beginning area of the new content. The zone was bright and filled with beautiful white marble structures, contrary to the dark setting of FFXIV: Endwalker's Pandaemonium Raid. Part 1 of Myths of the Realm was also decorated with multiple columns and archways. These designs appeared to be a mix of Final Fantasy and Ancient Greek architecture. Besides their realm, the Twelve share further similarities with the Greek Pantheon.

The Greek Gods May Have Inspired The Twelve In FFXIV

Aptly named, the Twelve are 12 deities that were worshipped in ancient times by the people of Eorzea. This is a direct comparison to the 12 gods that comprised the Greek Pantheon. Furthermore, both sets of divine entities are broken up into roles. Like the Greek gods, each member of the Twelve is associated with a different aspect of the world, such as Menphina and Love. The Raid bosses that were shown also have similar features to the beings that lived on top of Mount Olympus, with inhuman muscles and an imposing presence.

In the Live Letter, Mr. Yoshida explained that players will travel with NPC companions, similar to 2B in FFXIV's Nier Automata Raid. Recently, a dedicated page on the FFXIV website was created that details everything coming in Patch 6.1. In a screenshot, players can see that G'raha Tia will be one of the companions accompanying the Warrior of Light, during the Myths of the Realm. The nature of these mysterious and powerful deities will play a key role in the Raid's story.

Raids in FFXIV are intricately crafted to give players an experience separate from their normal adventures. They give fans the opportunity to band together with 23 other adventurers and face seemingly insurmountable odds. Players can uncover the secrets of the Twelve in the Myths of the Realm Raid, when FFXIV: Endwalker Patch 6.1 releases on April 12, 2022.
