Every expansion, Final Fantasy XIV releases a new, endgame currency in the form of Allagan tomestones for players to collect in exchange for weapons, gear, and accessories. To obtain these tomestones, adventurers need to have leveled one Disciple of Magic or War job to the current level cap for the game at the time. Each expansion has introduced four types of Allagan tomestones for equipment of varying item levels. However, FFXIV: Endwalker's 6.0 patch update will add two new versions - Allagan tomestones of Aphorism and Allagan tomestones of Astronomy.
Since Patch 5.3, tomestones are converted to Allagan tomestones of Poetics upon the start of a new expansion. This universal currency can be exchanged for old equipment yet to be obtained. The gear and weapons gained through this fashion are powerful and act as a quick way for players to acquire the item level required duties. Until reaching the level cap, adventurers will only get Poetics as a reward for activities. A total of 2,000 tomestones of each type can be held at one time. More news was given about the changes on December 2, 2021.
The 6.0 patch notes for Final Fantasy XIV detail the acquisition of the new tomestones and the retirement of the old ones. Allagan tomestones of Aphorism will be present at the launch of Endwalker, with Allagan tomestones of Astronomy available approximately four weeks after the official start date on December 7, 2021. Shadowbringer's Allagan tomestones of Allegory and Allagan tomestones of Revelation will both be unobtainable and Allagan tomestones of Phantasmagoria will be removed from the game in Endwalker. Before that happens, current adventurers in FFXIV should exchange their tomestones for powerful items. After the release, players will find a new merchant at the Crystarium that accepts Allagan tomestones as payment. The patch notes go on to further explain which activities will award the currency and how much the adventurers will receive.
Endwalker Introduces New Allagan Tomestones Of Aphorism
The Duty Roulette will be the way players can accumulate Allagan tomestones in FFXIV: Endwalker. Using the Expert roulette will grant 80 Aphorism tomestones. The level 50/60/70/80 dungeons Duty Roulette will award players with 100 Poetics and 120 Aphorism tomestones. The Leveling and Trials will grant 100 and 60 Aphorism tomestones. By completing the Main Scenario roulette, players will receive 300 Poetics and 100 Aphorism tomestones. Normal raids will give 100 Poetics and Aphorism each, while Alliance raids reward 80 Poetics and 60 Aphorism. Adventurers can take part in the Duty Roulette: Mentor to get 80 Aphorism and the Duty Roulette: Frontline for 50 Aphorism tomestones. Allagan tomestones are the primary way in Final Fantasy XIV to acquire strong armor, weapons, and accessories without waiting for a desired piece of gear to drop from an activity. Each roulette offers a bonus to the rewards every day, giving players the opportunity to accumulate the currency over time during their adventures. Completing the activities daily might be one of the fastest ways to level the Reaper and Sage too. All Warriors of Light must be prepared for what awaits in the conclusion of the conflict between Hydaelyn and Zodiark. Endwalker is bound to be filled with challenging content and players will need to gear up to take on the Ascians one final time.
