As a full expansion, Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker includes a number of surprising main story quests. Completing all of them is mandatory to unlock all level 81+ dungeons, raids, and trials. Additionally, as long as players stick to just a single job they will earn just enough experience points to easily reach the new max level of 90.
Endwalker is the sixth part of Final Fantasy XIV’s sprawling storyline. It builds off all other expansions and has very little introduction for those that used a skip potion to jump to level 80. Even those who played through the rest of the game may want to review older cutscenes via the Unending Journey within all inn rooms to ensure they are prepared for the latest adventure.
As the conclusion of the Hydaelyn-Zodiark storyline, FFXIV Endwalker builds off events from every previous expansion. This means dialogue and scenes will change based on all past events players have completed. It is highly recommended to finish every job quest for any role at level 80, raids like Alexander or Omega, and full-scale conflicts including the Bozjan Southern Front and Eureka. Otherwise, some key information will be omitted, or important characters will not appear during the main story.
Completing the Main Story in FFXIV Endwalker
To begin FFXIV Endwalker, players will need to have finished all Shadowbringers main story quests, including the base expansion and all five patches. Because the latter now rewards experience points as of December 3, it is possible some players may start Endwalker over-leveled. To avoid this, players may want to spread any level 80 quests among two or more jobs so only one winds up at 81.
