Classical weapons and armor have been added in patch 6.05 for Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker. These are powerful crafted sets that can rival and even beat equipment found inside Pandaemonium Asphodelos Normal mode. Best yet, with no weekly lockouts, players can fully outfit in Classical with just time and Gil.

Those hoping for a new stand-out fashion will be disappointed. Unlike the still widely popular Neo-Ishgardian sets from Shadowbringers, Classical is a recolor of the Republican armor from Stromblood. Those looking to use the equipment for Glamour can instead earn Wolf Marks from Final Fantasy XIV PvP content.

Both crafters and potential shoppers need to look at each Classical piece's final stats. Normal-Quality items have relatively poor performance, making it necessary to create High-Quality versions and overmeld them with up to five Materia. For substats, Direct Hit and Critical Hit will be the most useful. This, in turn, may make it hard to sell or find the parts that focus too much on Tenacity, Piety, or Spell Speed.

Crafting Classical Gear in Final Fantasy XIV

While Classical equipment is for Final Fantasy XIV combat roles, a mixture of different Disciples of the Hand and Disciples of the Land will be needed to forge a complete set. Players who haven't obtained level 90 with all 11 non-combat classes will need to rely on others for the remaining items. Alternately, one may be able to make extra money selling said items on the Market Boards. But as with all live service aspects, this will depend on the player's individual world and regional datacenter economy.

Recipes by Class

Each level 90 Disciple of the Hand can create weapons and armor for particular combat jobs or roles. To purchase a single Master Recipe Nine manual, one will need 1200 White Crafter Scrips - 8400 total for all Classical gear. These can easily be acquired by Final FantasyXIV's Custom Deliveries, Collectables, or Studium quests in Old Sharlayan. Master Recipes can be purchased from any Scrip Exchange NPC in any major town.

Raw Materials

Creating Classical equipment in FFXIV requires three main material types: Regional Folklore, Aethersand, and Aphorism items. For Folklore, gatherers will need to spend 1600 White Gatherer Scrips on 16 RegionalTrader'ss Token C. One can then give these to the Splendor's Vendor in Radz-at-Han to unlock new possible gathering materials per region. With three classes and three regions that may equate to 14,440 White Scrips for those that want everything. However, most Fisher catches will not be used to make Classical gear.

The other item types are a bit more direct. Master Recipe Nine related Aethersand can be bought from Scrip Exchange NPCs for 200 Purple Gatherer Scrips per piece. Aphorism items can be received from Cihanti in Radz-at-Han under her" "Othe" option. Each individual ingredient costs 20 Tomestones of Aphorism. In most cases, the Aphorism items themselves need to be crafted with the Regional Folklore items to make the above-listed final materials.

Stats and Crafting Abilities in Final Fantasy XIV

To even attempt making level nine Master Recipes in FFXIV, one will need at least 3180 Craftsmanship and 3080 Control. This can be achieved with Purple Crafter Scrip gear for left pieces (main hand, armor) and high-quality crafted equipment on the right side (off-hand, accessories). However, one may want to also consider some additional Materia spaces via high-quality crafted armor made with Dynamis Crystals.

Materia and Food

Players will want to at least single meld additional Control and CP to their open Materia slots. While the base Materia should be grade 10, the most efficient overmelding in FFXIV will be a combination of grade 9 and grade 7. Certain stats - particularly CP - have small maximums that will only fully benefit from grade 7. To make up for any low stats, one should consider eating Tsai tou Vounou for more CP, Giant Haddock Dip for Control, or Happiness Juice for Craftsmanship. These can additionally be boosted by a respective Alchemist-made Craftsmans' Draught.

Key Abilities

Master Recipes have slightly lower than average durability - 35 for materials and 70 for actual gear pieces in FFXIV. Therefore, it is crucial to max out the progress bar before the synthesis fails. For opening abilities when making combat gear, most should start with Reflect for quality; though, Muscle Memory may be better with higher stat melds or food. Manipulation and Waste Not II should then be activated to preserve durability. This can be followed by Innovation and four uses of Preparatory Touch. This will set Inner Quiet at ten stacks. What comes next will depend a bit on both stats and luck. Fortunate ones may be able to use Great Strides into Byregots' Blessing for a 100% chance of High-Quality. However, most players should also insert Precise Touch, Trained Finesse, and Basic Touch as needed.

Finally, for progress, one will want to turn on Veneration followed by a priority combination of Intensive Synthesis, Groundwork, Prudent Synthesis, and Careful Synthesis based on current condition, durability, and CP. It is also good to preemptively reapply Waste Not (or Waste Not II) instead of reacting with Masters' Mend.

While Classical weapons and equipment are powerful now, their importance and rarity will fall with every new FFXIV patch. By patch 6.2, they will become equivalent in power to common gear. And by patch 6.4, Classical will be entirely outmatched by new Tomestone, raid, and crafted options. One should hurry to make the most out of Classical, earn a good profit, or simply wait for a price drop.
