Over the years, Final Fantasy XIV has given fans plenty of mounts to choose from - but some of the best mounts in FFXIV were originally released as event exclusives. Thankfully, many of these mounts can either be purchased through Mog Station or have events that repeat on a regular basis. This means that for those who have missed out on these great FFXIV mounts, there are still chances to acquire them.

Mounts in A Realm Reborn were originally only faster alternatives to running (and without a stamina timer to worry about), but the Heavensward expansion for FFXIV introduced flying mounts. Since then, the MMO has been updated to allow flying in most areas - even older ARR zones. This means players no longer have to worry about the Ground and Flying distinctions that used to be placed on mounts in FFXIV. Although, quite a few of the older Ground mounts still look a bit silly flying through the air.

FFXIV events typically fall into two categories: crossovers with games like Yo-Kai Watch and Dragon Quest X, and seasonal events like the Starlight Celebration (which is essentially Christmas) and All Saints' Wake (which is basically Halloween). Other mounts can be obtained through Final Fantasy XIV's Moogle Treasure Trove Event, offering players a shot at items they may have missed out on. Many of the best event-exclusive mounts in FFXIV fall under the seasonal category since these appear to be the times that event mounts usually become available. For those looking for FFXIV mounts from past events (or who just want a nice trip down memory lane), here are the best ones in the MMO so far.

Best FFXIV Event Mount - Starlight Bear

FFXIV Starlight Bear

The Starlight Bear is a brown bear in a Santa Claus outfit, which is what makes it so great. It embodies the best of FFXIV's absurdity while also getting players into the holiday spirit. The Starlight Bear mount in FFXIV was once only obtainable through that year's Starlight Celebration event, but it can now be purchased for $12.00 USD on the official Final Fantasy XIV Online Store.

Best FFXIV Event Mount - Whisper-go From Yo-Kai Watch

FFXIV Whisper Mount Yo-Kai Watch

The Yo-Kai Watch crossover event in FFXIV has been thankfully reoccurring since it was introduced, offering players plenty of chances to get fun weapons, minions, and mounts from Level-5's monster-recruiting series. The Whisper-go is the easiest of these mounts to obtain, but others (like the Jibanyan Couch mount) are a lot of fun too.

Unfortunately, the Yo-Kai Watch mounts aren't currently available to buy, which means players missing them will need to wait until the event comes around again. The crossover usually happens at least once a year, but it's no easy feat to acquire all the exclusives. Players will have to farm medallions and FATEs in order to get all the items up for grabs.

Best FFXIV Event Mount - Snowman From Starlight Celebration

FFXIV Snowman Mount

The Snowman is another FFXIV mount from the annual Starlight Celebration, appearing as a part of 2020's event. If bears who look like Santa Claus aren't ideal for the holidays, then the Snowman mount may be a better option for players during the wintery seasons. Players hide inside the snowman, and they're able to pop off its head to peer outside - all while flying around Eorzea. As an added bonus, it can be fun to see how many Snowman mounts players can stack in areas like Mor Dhona. And with the concurrent player record for Final Fantasy XIV being higher than ever, that's a lot of potential Snowmen.

Best FFXIV Event Mount - Circus Ahriman

FFXIV Circus Resonator Halloween Mount

For players who prefer the spooky season over the winter holidays, the Circus Ahriman mount in FFXIV may be perfect. This voidsent is wearing a witch's hat and has a pumpkin-colored skin tone, making it ideal for Halloween. The sharp, vampire-like fangs and glowing purple eye certainly give off a spooky vibe, too.

Although it was originally only a part of the All Saints' Wake event in 2019, the Circus Ahriman can now be purchased for $12.00 USD from the official online store. For now, this is the only way for players who missed the event to acquire this Final Fantasy XIV mount. Seasonal event mounts don't often repeat, so this may be the only way to get the Circus Ahriman for the foreseeable future.

Best FFXIV Event Mount - Witch's Broom

FFXIV Witch Broom Mount

If the wing-flapping animations on the Circus Ahriman are too distracting, then the Witch's Broom mount can make a great alternative Halloween mount for FFXIV. The broom itself zips around much cleaner than the Ahriman does, and it has a cute little jack-o-lantern in front. Like the Circus Ahriman mount, the only way to get the Witch's Broom now is through the official Final Fantasy XIV online store, where it's priced at $12.00 USD.

Best FFXIV Event Mount - The Regalia From Final Fantasy XV

FFXIV Regalia Mount From FFXV

FFXIV has had crossovers with other Square Enix games (like FF13 and DQ10), but the Final Fantasy XV crossover rewards players with the sleek and cool Regalia Type-G mount. While driving a convertible car through Eorzea may seem anachronistic, it has the added benefit of letting friends ride along too. If the "hanging out with friends" vibes of FF15 resonated with players, then reliving those moments with the Regalia in FFXIV is great. The Regalia Type-G was even recently made available again, thanks to a repeat of the FFXIV and FF15 crossover event.

Mounts have become a huge part of FFXIV for the better part of a decade now, and there will surely be more event mounts released in-game in the future. With the new Endwalker expansion for Final Fantasy XIV coming in November, and several holidays right around the corner, it's certainly possible new events will be introduced and allow players to acquire more free and exclusive mounts. The online store offers fans a chance to buy some of these mounts they've missed out on. However, for those not wishing to spend extra money, many events -  like the Yo-Kai Watch and FF15 crossovers - repeat, offering players another chance to grab these great Final Fantasy XIV mounts.
