While fans eagerly await the arrival of Yuffie in Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade, new details continue to emerge about the popular thief and what she's doing in Midgar. One of the latest reveals concerns Yuffie's new look in FF7 Remake's DLC episode, which has her wearing a moogle outfit and hood.

Ahead of Intergrade's arrival on PS5, Square Enix continues dropping new details about FF7 Remake's Yuffie episode. While a good amount of these details (as well as fan speculation) comes from how the new episode will connect to FF7 Remake's current story, there's also been quite a bit of focus on how the Intergrade - and INTERmission - content is going to work on various platforms. However, one of the biggest mysteries from the trailers may be why Yuffie is wearing a moogle outfit in the upcoming episode.

In the original Final Fantasy 7, Yuffie wore a green shirt, legwarmers, and shorts. Later iterations of the character, like in the Advent Children film and in several Kingdom Hearts games, changed Yuffie's style a bit. However, this latest design showing Yuffie in a moogle outfit is a pretty big departure from the character's traditional appearance, even if Yuffie's classic attire is still underneath her hood and poncho. So, why does Yuffie have such a new look for FF7 Remake: Intergrade?

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Yuffie Original FF7 Character

In an interview with FF7 Remake's co-directors Naoki Hamaguchi and Motomu Toriyama on the Square Enix blog, it's revealed why Yuffie was given the moogle outfit to wear in the upcoming DLC content. According to Toriyama, Yuffie wears her moogle outfit whenever she's on covert missions. Since she's sneaking into Midgar, this makes a lot of sense from a narrative standpoint.

However, Toriyama also says the moogle hood is a reference to the time it was used in Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7, which originally released on the PS2. From early teases of Yuffie's episode, it seems like there will be many connections between Dirge of Cerberus and FF7 Remake. With characters and clothes from the FF7 spin-off appearing in Yuffie's Intergrade episode, it will be interesting to see how events and people from the previous games will be brought into FF7 Remake's universe. So, while Yuffie's moogle outfit may seem like some cute clothing added without purpose, there are actually two good reasons for her new look in Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade.
