Astro's Playroom comes with the PlayStation 5, and it's more than just a tech demo to show off everything the DualSense controller can do. It's a love letter to PlayStation games past and present, with clever references to both popular and obscure PlayStation titles. One of the coolest easter eggs in the game is a reference to Final Fantasy 7 - and FF7 Remake as well.

While most of Astro's Playroom focuses on collecting artifacts and jigsaw puzzle pieces, there are dozens of easter eggs from past PlayStation titles for players to find. From God of War and Resident Evil to Uncharted and Ape Escape, there are lots of easter eggs for players to find. This includes a clever homage to Final Fantasy 7.

With its jump to 3D in 1997, Final Fantasy 7 on the original PlayStation is considered one of the best RPGs and video games of all time. The game follows Cloud Strife, an ex-SOLDIER mercenary who's remembered for his iconic spiky hair and gigantic Buster Sword. The game was remade as FF7 Remake earlier this year, and received an official patch update last month. PlayStation's history with FF7 and its remake is practically legendary, which is why it makes sense a reference would be hiding somewhere in Astro's Playroom.

Where To Find FF7's Easter Egg In Astro's Playroom

Cloud's famous Buster Sword for Final Fantasy 7 can be found sticking up out of the ground in the Turbo Trail. This is the first level in the SSD Speedway in Astro's Playroom. About halfway through the Turbo Trail, players will land on a small metal island via the Hang Glider. A group of bots are staring in awe at the giant sword rising up from the ground. A beam of light shines down on the Buster Sword, a clear ode to Final Fantasy 7's title screen.

This sword-and-light look was repeated for FF7 Remake, presumably because it's so iconic to the series. It's recreated perfectly here in the SSD Speedway, and fans of Final Fantasy will absolutely love the reference. It's a great homage to both the game and PlayStation's long history with the JRPG franchise.

Although the original Final Fantasy 7 has since moved to modern consoles that aren't PlayStation, it was originally a PSone exclusive - and FF7 Remake remains a PlayStation console exclusive for now. Astro's Playroom is a celebration of the past PlayStation titles that made the consoles so great, and it's really nice seeing the reference to Cloud's Buster Sword in the game.
