Both Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn seized the limelight from their male co-stars in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad so it seems like a no-brainer for Warner Brothers to capitalize on the upcoming DC films with even more strong female characters.

The upcoming Batman solo flick, which will both star and be directed by Ben Affleck, would be the perfect venue to see some of the strongest femme fatales come head to head with Gotham's Dark Knight.

We've already seen some of these women onscreen before, but there could be room to give them more action to show off their skills. And sorry, but we're leaving out Catwoman for this list since she's already had more than her fair share of big screen fights with Batman.

Dozens of women have come through Batman's life both as Bruce Wayne and as his masked alias. Here are 15 of those women whom we'd be floored to see face off with Batman in his next movie.

15. Talia al Ghul

It was only revealed in the final act of The Dark Knight Rises that Miranda Tate, played by Marion Cotillard, was actually Talia al Ghul, daughter of Ra's al Ghul. As one of the most interesting female characters Batman has had to face-off with over the years, it would certainly be interesting to see more of their story explored in upcoming films.

Talia, while being one of Batman's most dangerous nemeses, is also sometimes depicted as an anti-hero and is the mother of his only son, Damian Wayne.

She is described as being of mixed Chinese and Arab descent. In the comic books, she spent her childhood traveling and training with her father and eventually takes over as the leader of one faction of the League of Assassins (League of Shadows in the film).

Talia even had a storyline with Superman when she left her father to run LexCorp. But even though Lex Luthor was the President of the United States, she undermined him by leaking his dealings to Superman. When it came time to take Luthor down, she sold all of LexCorp's assets to the Wayne Foundation and left her employer penniless.

14. Sasha Bordeaux

A few dozen people know that beneath Batman's cowl is Bruce Wayne but, for various reasons, they keep his secret. To everybody else, Bruce Wayne is a billionaire playboy, which is why Lucius Fox, the CEO and President of Wayne Enterprises, decided to hire a bodyguard to protect him.

Sasha was a former secret service agent who took her role as Bruce's bodyguard very seriously. Unfortunately, her charge was not very cooperative – often sneaking away from her for hours at a time. Eventually, she discovered that he was actually Batman and even then, she decided that she should continue to protect him even while he patrolled Gotham at night.

To prepare her, Bruce personally trained her for 30 days. However, the two were separated when Sasha was framed for the murder of Vesper Fairchild, a TV personality who was romantically linked to Bruce. While incarcerated, she was recruited by Checkmate, a UN-sponsored organization that monitors metahumans. They faked her death in prison and gave her extensive reconstructive surgery to completely change her identity.

13. Andrea Beaumont / The Phantasm

Andrea Beaumont was the only woman who made Bruce Wayne question whether he should lead a normal life or fulfill the promise he made to his parents to fight crime in Gotham.

In Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, while Bruce was studying at Gotham University, he fell in love and got engaged to Andrea. She was the daughter of Carl Beaumont, a wealthy businessman who, unfortunately for Andrea's marriage plans, double crossed the mafia and forced them to flee to Europe.

But the mafia still found Carl and had him murdered at their Mediterranean villa. This prompted Andrea to return to Gotham after ten long years and become The Phantasm to get revenge on the men who had her father killed, including the Joker, who was their hired hitman.

Batman figured out that The Phantasm was actually Andrea and tried to get her to leave her mission of vengeance behind.

12. Sofia Falcone Gigante / The Hangman

Sofia Falcone was the daughter of Gotham City's biggest crime lord, Carmine Falcone. She inherited her father's ability to manipulate people, and was deeply involved with many of Gotham's villains and underworld dealings.

In New Earth, she helped search for Holiday, a killer that was putting down the Maroni crime family, who were rivals of the Falcones. In the aftermath of the killings, Sal Maroni himself was going to testify against Falcone, hoping to save himself from Holiday. But instead, he threw acid on District Attorney Harvey Dent's face, turning him into the villain Two-Face.

Driven to madness, Harvey Dent as Two-Face formed an alliance with the Joker and other villains to kill Carmine. Batman, aided by Catwoman, stopped them in time. Sofia wanted to kill Two-Face right then, but was held back by Catwoman. In the scuffle, Sofia was flung out of a window which sheared off the right side of her face. She fled to Italy with her body guard, Angelo "Killer" Mirti. The accident left her scarred, like her father, and apparently wheelchair bound.

But the wheelchair was only a ruse to hide her later identity as The Hangman, who targeted law enforcement officers connected to Harvey Dent's rise to become District Attorney.

11. Pamela Lillian Isley / Poison Ivy

The last time we saw Poison Ivy on the big screen was universally abhorred Batman & Robin. Although she was played by the beautiful Uma Thurman, her performance (and that entire movie) is best forgotten. But as one of Batman's most famous villains, it's a shame to not bring back the character as the bad-ass seductress she is.

Poison Ivy is obsessed with Batman because he is the only man on earth whom she cannot control. Using her toxin-laced kiss and her plant-like metahuman powers, she becomes the world's most prominent eco-terrorist.

In recent story lines, she finds Harley Quinn, who barely survived another murder attempt by the Joker, and nurses her back to life. After hearing Harley's story of abuse, Ivy decides to inject her – with Harley's consent – with a serum to make her immune to toxins, as well as increase her agility and speed.

Their friendship is often described as Harley's first healthy relationship. The two are best friends, and sometimes lovers, as they go on crime sprees together.

10. Jezebel Jet

Bruce Wayne had to keep up appearances as Gotham's most eligible bachelor and party-going playboy. One of the women who was linked to Bruce was the former fashion model turned villain, Jezebel Jet.

In addition to rising up in the fashion industry, Jezebel was also a millionaire who took over a small African country. She had an passionate affair with Bruce and was even able to deduce that he was Batman.

The revelation strengthened their relationship and Bruce grew to trust her so much that he even took her on a tour of the Batcave. When she was captured by the group called the Black Glove, he did everything in his power to find her. But when he did, she revealed that she was actually part of the group herself.

Although Jezebel escaped back to her country, Talia al Ghul, who wanted to keep Batman's identity a secret, sent her assassins after her.

9. Una Nemo / The Absence

Another one of the “Wayne Girls” was Una Nemo, a Gotham City socialite whom Bruce's butler, Alfred Pennyworth, was even quite fond of. Unfortunately, Bruce's habit of skipping out on her (due to his duties as the Dark Knight) left her feeling abandoned and alone.At a yacht party, she was shot point-blank in the forehead and her body wasn't found until two weeks later. But it turned out, that the body that was buried wasn't even hers. She confessed that she attended her own funeral, hoping to see Bruce Wayne there, to tell him that she had survived – albeit with a huge hole in her head. But when he wasn't in attendance (he was trapped in a time loop), she vowed to make him finally notice her any way possible.

As a result, she targeted any woman who was linked to Bruce Wayne. She zoned in on Batman too, because it was revealed that he was being financed by Bruce. She set up an elaborate trap to pit him and Robin (Damian Wayne) against each other. She wanted the Dynamic Duo to send Bruce a message for her: that she was not going to be forgotten and tossed aside anymore.

8. Jaina Hudson / White Rabbit

Yet another socialite who flirted with Bruce Wayne was Jaina Hudson. But they were never able to go out on a date because he was too busy being Batman.

Jaina has the ability to duplicate herself into a completely separate person with a different look and personality than her own. As Indian-American self Jaina has olive skin, dark hair, and green eyes. Meanwhile, her alter-ego, White Rabbit, has pale skin, platinum blonde hair, and pink eyes. It is not yet known how her power works-- however, it seems that her white gloves play a part in how she's able to duplicate and be in two places at once.

As the White Rabbit, she is extremely agile and can even outrun Batman while wearing her signature white stiletto heel boots. She often taunts her pursuers with the phrase, “Catch me if you can.”

She is also a skilled escape artist, as she evades Batman and the Gotham Police on multiple occasions. She has even broken out of Arkham Asylum and Blackgate Penitentiary at opportunistic times.

7. Magpie

In the first incarnation of this character, her name was Margaret Pye, a thief who targeted jewelry based on birds, like her secret identity: Magpie. She had the distinction of being the first villain to be defeated by the teamed-up Batman and Superman. She was thrown in to Arkham Asylum where Poison Ivy became her roommate.

In another version from the the comic books, Magpie was a a genius kleptomaniac who worked at the Gotham City Museum of Antiquities. She stole priceless artifacts from the museum and replaced them with replicas that were decked out with booby traps and explosives.

In Beware the Batman, she is voiced by Grey Delisle. Before she became Magpie, she was Margaret Sorror, a thief who volunteered for psychiatric procedures at Blackgate Penitentiary in exchange for time off her sentence. The procedure to repress her criminal tendencies worked too well and a split personality emerged from her with the name Magpie.

As Magpie, she took on the alias Cassie, who was a meek and shy secretary by day. In reality, she was hell bent on getting revenge on the doctors who performed the procedure on her and made her lose her memories. She also dons long claw-like nails, has lost the ability to feel pain, and enjoys stealing shiny objects.

6. Natasha Knight / Nocturna

Natasha was an orphan who lived in the streets of Gotham City until chance made her cross paths with the millionaire Charles Knight. He decided to take her in and treated her like a daughter but never legally adopted her.

Knight never purused a legal adoption because most of his wealth had been acquired through his role as a crime lord. Natasha never knew his secret until he was assassinated by his rivals and his son, Anton, returned to Gotham after years of studying martial arts in the East.

Anton was aware of his father's criminal dealings and told Natasha that they could follow in their father's footsteps. Instead, she got a job at the Gotham Astronomical Observatory where she studied stellar light in a vacuum.

During her research, an accident occurred and she was exposed to laser radiation that drained her skin of all its pigment and made her hypersensitive to light. The fortune she inherited was drained due to medical costs and she decided to seek financial restitution from the Wayne Foundation.

But when the bureaucrats delayed settling with her, she decided to take Anton up on his offer. They became a couple as well as night-themed villains. He took on the name Night-Thief and she became Nocturna.

5. Sandra Wu-San / Lady Shiva

Sandra Wu-San, better known as Lady Shiva, has been both villain and vigilante. She is arguably one of Batman's only equals when it comes to martial arts, having trained both him and Tim Drake, the third Robin.

Perfecting her fighting skills is Shiva's main goal. To this end, she is relentless in learning from martial arts masters and hunting down the world's most dangerous fighters only to see if she can take them down with her bare hands. She is a highly skilled killer and has ties to the League of Assassins.

In her current story line, she is the mentor of the Red Hood. This could give her an easy entry into the upcoming Batman solo flick given that both Batman v. Superman and Suicide Squad briefly but directly reference the murder of Jason Todd (Robin) by the Joker and his accomplice, Harley Quinn.

Jason, of course, didn't stay dead in the comics and when he resurrected as Red Hood, he remembered that he was killed by the Joker and his mentor/father-figure, Batman, never avenged him.

4. Penumbra

Yet another assassin on the list is Penumbra. In the years when Bruce Wayne was traveling the world to prepare himself to become the Batman, he came across a girl named Mio in the Himalayas. She was the assistant of a local blacksmith and he would visit her often while he was not training under the martial artist Shihan Matsuda.

Bruce and Mio began to fall in love but her true colors were revealed when she attempted to kill Matsuda. She was hired by Matsuda's own wife but she couldn't complete her job because of her feelings for Bruce.

Later on, it was revealed that Mio was actually trained by Ra's Al Ghul.

Many years later, she resurfaced as Penumbra and was sent to Gotham City to assassinate the Prime Minister of Bhutan.

In addition to being a martial arts master, she also learned a mystic discipline while allowed her to manipulate shadows into constructs like clothes, her suit, and even various weapons which she used in fights.

3. Sophia Santos / Thanatos

Sophia Santos, a criminal who was wanted by Interpol, used the male alias Thanatos. She was the head of a terrorist group known as Death's Head which was devoted to the destruction of capitalism.

Thanatos and Death's Head came to Gotham City to break into S.T.A.R. Labs to steal some equipment for their cause. They also used a device called the Fortu-Tron, invented by the master criminal, Amos Fortune.

Fortune was best known for his ability to manipulate luck, due to his discovery of "luck glands" that exist in all humans. His inventions caused several of Gotham's millionaires to lose their better judgment and gamble away their fortunes. Even Bruce Wayne fell victim to the machine.

While Death's Head was bombing Gotham City, an Italian reporter, Lina Muller arrived to cover the story. But Sophia stole her identity and used it as a cover to seduce Bruce Wayne to try and manipulate him further into funding her terrorist group.

2. Copperhead

Copperhead appears in the video game Batman: Arkham Origins. She is the daughter of the villain of the same name who first appeared in The Brave and the Bold #78. The original Copperhead was a contortionist who wore a snakeskin costume and constricted his victims to death.

In the game, Copperhead's real name is Larissa Diaz. She is a contract killer and escape artist who was already infamous in Central America for breaking out of 14 different prisons. She is one of eight assassins hired by Black Mask to kill Batman in Gotham City. However, she figures out that her employer is actually the Joker.

Copperhead has yellow reptilian-like eyes, a forked tongue, and wears taloned gloves that are coated with a powerful neurotoxin that makes anyone she scratches experience painful hallucinations before they die. Her multiple tattoos suggest that she is a member of some violent Central American gangs and drug cartels.

1. Harley Quinn

This list would not be complete without Harley Quinn. Margot Robbie absolutely stole the show in the Suicide Squad movie and we can't wait to see more of Harley and Batsy duking it out on the big screen.

Dr. Harley Quinzel was a trained gymnast before she became a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum and turned into the Joker's girlfriend, Harley Quinn. She uses her agility, flexibility, and acrobatic prowess when she fights – not to mention her unconventional weapons of choice, like her over-sized mallet.

In their underwater fight scene in Suicide Squad, Robbie has said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that they filmed a much longer sequence and she trained with free divers to hold her breath for five minutes. Perhaps we'll finally get to see her and Ben Affleck in a longer fight in either Batman's upcoming solo flick, or even Harley Quinn's probable solo movie that has gotten everyone excited.
