February 2022 has a large slate of new video games releasing this month, including high-profile AAA titles like Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring. After numerous pandemic-related delays to many titles and a sleepy January for new releases, February is coming in full force with some highly-anticipated games. For those interested in seeing what February 2022 video games have to offer, there's a little something for just about everyone.
Typically, fall months like November see the busiest video game releases, and while November 2021 certainly had some big games coming out, many of the biggest titles, like Horizon Forbidden West, were delayed and pushed back to early in 2022. This was primarily due to complications from the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, though, many games are now seeing the light of day in February.
January 2022 video game releases were somewhat muted, with Pokémon Legends: Arceus being the biggest release of the bunch. Many sequels are also arriving in February 2022, with King of Fighters 15 and Dying Light 2: Stay Human having release dates. Additionally, indie titles like OlliOlli World and Sifu are releasing this month, too.
February 2022 Video Game Releases Start With Dying Light 2 & Sifu
Although Life Is Strange: Remastered Collection kicks off the month with a February 1 release date, Dying Light 2: Stay Human, which has a February 4 release date, marks the first original release. Delayed from December 2021, Dying Light 2 has made headlines recently when its social media accounts claimed it would take 500 hours to complete the game. This was later clarified as allegedly taking that long to 100% complete everything in the game, and not just to finish its story.
Meanwhile, anticipated indies like OlliOlli World and Sifu are both releasing on February 8, 2022. Fans of skateboarding games should love OlliOlli World, which is the latest game in the colorful series. Sifu is a beat 'em up from Sloclap that revolves around a kung-fu student set on revenge. Both titles may be overshadowed by some of the bigger releases this month, but are definitely worth checking out.
Kingdom Hearts Arrives On Switch (As Cloud Versions) In February 2022
After a lot of speculation and fan demand, the Kingdom Hearts series will finally be coming to the Nintendo Switch on February 10, 2022. Thus far, Melody of Memory was the only KH game available on the console. However, the Kingdom Hearts games on Switch will come with one caveat: They're only available as cloud versions. This may prove to be a dealbreaker to some fans, but for those who've wanted Sora and the gang on Switch for a long time, the offer may just be too good to resist.
Warhammer 3 & King Of Fighters 15 Release In February 2022
King of Fighters 15 will be released on February 17, alongside Total War: Warhammer 3. KoF 15 is the latest entry in the long-running fighting game franchise and is promising innovations in gameplay and updated mechanics. Like previous Warhammer titles, Warhammer 3 is a turn-based strategy and tactics RPG based on the popular tabletop wargame. Early adopters will also get access to the Ogres Kingdom playable races, which may incentive some people to grab Warhammer 3 as soon as possible. Although both games are releasing on the same day, they offer drastically different gameplay and style - and will likely be appealing to two different audiences.
Horizon Forbidden West Releases February 18, 2022
As the long-awaited sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West is one of the biggest releases for February 2022 - and for the entire year. Despite delays, the PlayStation exclusive will finally mark the return of Aloy and what's become a flagship series for Sony's consoles. Horizon Forbidden West is releasing on February 18, 2022, for PS5 and PS4.
Ahead of its release, the studio has teased multiple returning characters, new mechanical enemies to fight, and has stated that Horizon Forbidden West won't have multiple endings. Underwater gameplay, as well as the adaptive triggers on the PS5's controller while Aloy is using her bow, are two features that have been promoted extensively. However, a lot of Forbidden West's story remains a mystery for now.
Elden Ring Is Releasing February 25, 2022
Just like Horizon Forbidden West, Elden Ring is one of the most anticipated games of 2022. It also suffered from delays, but FromSoftware's latest title will finally be arriving on February 25, 2022, for PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. With a story by Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, as well as being an open-world Soulslike, the game is already getting a lot of hype.
A Network Test for Elden Ring at the end of 2021 let players explore part of the world and experiment with gameplay - and take down one of the game's powerful bosses. However, it also meant some players were able to glitch into other areas and datamine the Network Test, which means leaks and theories have appeared frequently online ever since. Still, much of Elden Ring's story and lore remains a mystery ahead of its February 2022 release date.

The dates for the other games, however, seem unlikely to change this close to their target releases. While a lot of attention may be on Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring, there are still plenty of other new games releasing in February 2022, which should make it a pretty interesting - and fun - month for gaming.
