Every script is finished for Fear the Walking Dead season 6. In the aftermath of the success of AMC's The Walking Dead series, the network decided to expand the universe in 2015 with the launch of Fear the Walking Dead. The show started off telling a story set in the beginning of the zombie apocalypse, placing it several years before the main series. But, more recent seasons have featured greater crossovers, as multiple characters from The Walking Dead have appeared.

Fear the Walking Dead is currently five seasons deep and season six is on the way, even if it has gone through some difficulties. Like many other productions, Fear the Walking Dead had to stop filming in March due to the coronavirus. The show hasn't completely slowed down, though, as a panel at Comic-Con@Home debuted the first trailer for Fear the Walking Dead season 6. In addition to showing the first footage from the season and announcing an October debut, the Fear the Walking Dead cast and crew spoke about a variety of topics.

Near the beginning of the Comic-Con@Home panel, moderator Chris Hardwick asked showrunner Andrew Chambliss what the current status of Fear the Walking Dead's sixth season is. Chambliss provided a few updates on the state of season 6, such as that the majority of the first half of the season is complete. But, he also said that Fear the Walking Dead is prepared to resume production whenever possible, as every script for season 6 is completely written:

We were about this close to finishing shooting the first half of this season when we shut down. We finished most of it. We still owe a few things. We're just kind of in a waiting game. We finished writing season 6 and now we're just waiting to see what happens so when we come back we can come back safely for all these fine people here and all the people behind the camera.

Fear The Walking Dead Season 5 Cast

Although Chambliss wasn't able to give a clear answer on when Fear the Walking Dead will be able to start filming again, it is promising that the scripts are complete. Now, whenever AMC clears the show to resume production, there shouldn't be any delays. The ability to move full steam ahead will be beneficial, especially if Fear the Walking Dead is able to continue sooner than later. With season 6 debuting in October, it won't be long before the remaining episodes will need to start filming to release the full season on a weekly basis. If that can't be done, then Fear the Walking Dead season 6 could potentially be divided up to air the first half together and the second half at a later point.

Fear the Walking Dead isn't the only show in the Walking Dead universe to have its plans changed by the coronavirus. The final episode of season 10 of The Walking Dead wasn't able to be complete, which will require the intended finale to air separately in October. Meanwhile, The Walking Dead: World Beyond had its premiere delayed in May and is now scheduled to arrive in October as well. There's clearly no shortage of Walking Dead content on the way, now its just a matter of figuring out when most of it will arrive.
