Warning: SPOILERS for Fear the Walking Dead season 6, episode 16, "The Beginning"

A new clip from Fear the Walking Dead season 7 seen during its Comic-Con@Home panel shows John Dorie Sr. discovering Teddy Maddox's murder bunker. Co-created by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson, the show acts a companion series to AMC's hit zombie apocalypse drama The Walking Dead, itself based on Kirkman's graphic novels of the same name. The early seasons of the series acted as a prequel to the mothership title as a blended family fight for survival in the early days of the undead outbreak.

Fear the Walking Dead would slowly start to catch up to the original series as cast members Lennie James, Austin Amelio and Christine Evangelista all became part of the main roster at various points and season 4 included a large time jump to put it in line with The Walking Dead season 8. The latest chapter of Fear the Walking Dead centered on James' Morgan as he is left for dead by Pioneers leader Virginia and his group is separated across her various settlements, putting him on a journey to reunite them all. With only a month passed since the explosive season finale, AMC is already looking to build anticipation for season 7 of the spin-off series.

This past weekend saw AMC bring Fear the Walking Dead season 7 to the latest Comic-Con@Home virtual presentation. Though the loss of Garret Dillahunt's John Dorie proved to be a heartbreaking development of Fear the Walking Dead season 6, the introduction of his long-estranged father and his tangled backstory with cult leader Teddy marked one of the highlights for the season. While the latter may have been able to enact part of his nuclear holocaust plan in the season 6 finale, Teddy did get his comeuppance at the hands of young Dakota and Dorie Sr. and his daughter-in-law June were able to survive the initial blasts. Their initial survival came as a sigh of relief for many, but that may not last for long in season 7.

As the new clip for Fear the Walking Dead season 7 shows, Dorie Sr. and June not only have to contend with the uncertainty of living in a nuclear fallout, but also the dark truth of Teddy's hidden bunker. With season 6 putting a tense spotlight on Teddy's murderous past and John Dorie's own complicated relationship to the serial killer, this revelation is sure to add an intriguing layer to the dynamic of Keith Carradine's newer character. Only time will tell what the future holds for him and June when the series returns to AMC on October 17.
