Madison Davis is back in the pulse-pounding new trailer for Fear the Walking Dead season 7, part 2. Kim Dickens first appeared as Madison in season 1 of AMC’s zombie apocalypse spinoff show. The character would then remain a major player on Fear the Walking Dead throughout its first few seasons, and become a fan-favorite role.
However, during the first-half finale of Fear the Walking Dead season 4, Dickens’ Madison seemed to meet her demise. In an act of self-sacrifice, she lured a horde of zombies into a stadium and set them all on fire. Somehow, Madison survived the inferno at the stadium and, as was revealed back in December, the character now return in time to join the cast for the second half of Fear the Walking Dead season 7.
As expected, the returned Madison indeed makes an appearance in the new Fear the Walking Dead season 7B trailer from AMC. The new clip also gives fans a glimpse of Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) as she continues to battle on after amputating her own arm to save herself from a walker bite in the season 7A finale. Fear the Walking Dead season 7B picks things up months after the nuclear blast and finds Strand (Colman Domingo) having built a little kingdom for himself, where he decides who lives and who dies. According to the official season 7B synopsis, “The other members of the group have suffered immensely, but out of that, has come a fierce determination to live, even if it means taking Strand’s Tower by force and continuing the search for Padre, a mythical place no one is sure really exists.” As for the return of Madison, the new FTWD trailer shows her appearing to be in someone’s custody after surviving the fire at the stadium. Through a loudspeaker, a voice asks her name and when she answers “Madison” it tells her, “Not anymore. We will tell you who you’re going to be from now on.” It is still unclear who this mysterious voice belongs to.
What happens next for Madison on Fear the Walking Dead season 7B, of course, remains to be seen. Some favorite fan theories about the future of Dickens' character include speculation that she was picked up by the CRM, as well as a theory that she is actually Padre, or responsible for the place called Padre. Some darker speculation suggests that Madison will eventually find her daughter Alicia, but that Alicia will die from the walker bite she suffered in the season 7A finale just as she is about to have her tearful reunion with her mother. While the true meaning of Madison's return has yet to play out, Fear the Walking Dead season 7B is set to be a unique and exciting event given the comeback of this long-lost character.
