Maggie Grace has been cast in an undisclosed role in Fear The Walking Dead season 4. AMC's zombie spinoff wrapped up its third season last month which, despite falling ratings, attracted an improved critical response compared to previous outings. The season ended with a huge C4 explosion that left the fates of every character bar Madison (Kim Dickens) up in the air. It has since been confirmed that Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey and Colman Domingo will also be returning and they'll be joined by none other than The Walking Dead's Morgan (Lennie James) in a highly anticipated crossover.
Perhaps best known as Liam Neeson's unbelievably careless daughter in the Taken franchise and the similarly unfortunate Shannon in Lost, Maggie Grace has had success both on the big and small screen. Her most recent movie credit came earlier this year alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in Aftermath but Grace hasn't been seen on television since her 2015 appearance in Masters of Sex and Lost remains arguably her most memorable TV role.
However, Grace will soon trade being hungry, scared and under attack from a black smoke monster to being hungry, scared and under attack from hordes of flesh-eating zombies. According to Deadline, Grace has been cast as a series regular in season 4 of Fear The Walking Dead which is due to air in 2018. Details regarding her character remain unknown at present.
This casting represents somewhat new territory for Grace, as her most famous roles have seen the actress portray largely helpless and somewhat ditzy characters. With Fear The Walking Dead quite deep into its zombie apocalypse, it's likely that most of those types would have already been ravaged by the reanimated dead or otherwise succumbed to the brutality of the new world. Put simply, only true survivors are left alive at this point and therefore many viewers may get to see a new side to Grace's acting repertoire.
With no details surrounding this new character, it's difficult to predict how Maggie Grace will fit into the current landscape of Fear The Walking Dead. In the climax of season 3, Madison seemingly landed in a new location, separated from her family; could Grace be playing a figure that teams up with a lone Madison as she seeks to locate her missing kids?
Alternatively, the addition of Morgan to Fear The Walking Dead has thrown a spanner into the works in terms of which direction the show's fourth season will head. Morgan is seen in Georgia during seasons 1, 3 and 5 of The Walking Dead, whereas Fear The Walking Dead is located in the Los Angeles and Tijuana regions and is currently set alongside the season 1 finale/season 2 premiere of The Walking Dead. It remains to be seen whether Morgan would have found the time to make a trip West and back or whether FTWD will relocate its setting to accommodate Morgan. It's even possible that Fear The Walking Dead season 4 will feature flash-forwards to a present-day Morgan that will encounter FTWD's Madison as the leader of a new band of villains and maybe Maggie Grace will make her debut as a member of said group.
Fear The Walking Dead season 4 is expected to premiere in mid 2018.
