The Fear The Walking Dead cast originally started out as something completely fresh and different from the regular show, which was AMC's most successful show at that time. This series showed what happened when the zombie apocalypse began and moved the action to the West Coast. However, soon the main characters moved on to the southern United States and, starting with Lennie James, some characters from the original series blended in and by the time the show ends, the entire cast almost got a full makeover as the story evolved.

That final season for Fear the Walking Dead will be the eighth, and there have been several major cast members that have come and gone throughout the years. Some have died painfully and others sacrificed themselves to save others. Unlike the main show, there have even been man members of the Fear the Walking Dead cast that seemed to return from the dead - or at least proved they survived otherwise unimaginable fates. With so many characters on the show having come and gone, the main characters from this show helped it rise from a Walking Dead spinoff to a success story in its own right.

Kim Dickens – Madison Clark

Madison Clarke was the first major protagonist in Fear the Walking Dead, a mother and wife who fought to p[protect her family and keep them alive. However, she watched her fiance and son die and began to lose control of her own emotions until it finally looked like she died as well. That proved to be false, as Madison returned in season 7 to show she had survived and remains a key cast member as the show heads into its final season. While she was not a fan favorite in the early seasons, she has a chance to redeem herself as the show prepares to end.

Ruben Blades – Daniel Salazar

Daniel was a member of the season 1 Fear the Walking Dead cast, and he has survived more near-death experiences than anyone. He seemed to have died ins season 2 when he saved everyone from a fire. However, he escaped and returned in season 3. By this time, his daughter had died, and he lost his compassion and patience for the other survivors. It was here that the Gonzalez dam exploded and most assumed he died again. However, he survived again and returned in season 4 and is one of the main cast members heading into the final season.

Colman Domingo – Victor Strand

In the first season's Fear the Walking Dead cast, Victor Strand took on a very unique role. He was a conman and served more as an antihero and slight antagonist than a hero. He latched onto Nick and ended up lying to his family to get to where he felt he would be safest. However, everything he did was self-serving, and he betrayed more people than anyone on the show. However, after Alicia's apparent death, he began trying to redeem himself before becoming a full-fledged villain in season seven. Strand now serves in a Negan-styled role on Fear the Walking Dead.

Danay Garcia – Luciana Galvez

Luciana showed up in the Fear the Walking Dead cast in season 2 as part of the La Colonia community in Mexico. While she served as Nick's girlfriend at first, she became a lot more important after he died. Streetwise and resourceful, Luciana found her renewed purpose after Nick's death and began helping Morgan unite survivors. She eventually broke off from Mogan and ended up barely escaping death after the launching of the nuclear warheads in season 6. Now back with Morgan and Daniel, she is once again one of the strongest survivors in the group.

Lennie James – Morgan Jones

The biggest name to join the Fear the Walking Dead cast in the season 4 shakeup was Lennie James as Morgan Jones. He first appeared in the premiere season of the original show, and he was the first person to crossover from TWD to its spinoff. He then positioned himself as the new leader of the survivors on the show, pushing the original cast to the background, and it has been his show ever since. Much like he did on The Walking Dead, Morgan has bounced between angry and vindictive and his more pacifist ways. However, he ended up having a daughter on the show, making him the best choice to lead the FtWD characters into a better future.

Jenna Elfman – June

June was a kind nurse who met Madison in season 4, and then she ended up reuniting with her husband John Dorie and the two continued their love story that began before they showed up on the series. However, she was also someone that no one ever really knew the truth about because she went by different aliases over time, including Laura and Naomi. After John's death, she ended up working in Morgan's group. However, she paired up with John's father and ended up held captive by Strand in season 7. With John Sr.'s death, she is the only person in her family left alive.

Alexa Nisenson – Charlie

Charlie was a villain in the Fear the Walking Dead cast as part of the Vultures. However, Charlie is a child, 13 years old when she first appeared on the show. She even killed one of the first main characters on the show when she shot Nick Clark. However, when the Vultures fell in defeat, she defected to Morgan’s group and feels great guilt over killing Nick. This has made her someone who wants to prove herself as she grows up and show that she can be a loyal friend and ally to the survivors. She has also connected with Daniel, who promised he would care for her like he failed to for Ofelia before she died.

Karen David – Grace

Grace became part of the Fear the Walking Dead cast in season 5, She was a power plant worker who tried and failed to prevent a nuclear meltdown. Now gravely ill with radiation sickness, she battled radioactive walkers to atone for her past. Grace ended up joining Morgan's group after a second meltdown, and it was then that she ended up falling in love with Mogan. She has since stayed with Morgan to help raise his daughter, Rachel. She also took a chance on making a deal with Strand to save Morgan's life by working for him, and she remains a strong character heading into the final season.

Austin Amelio – Dwight

Like Morgan before him, Dwight made the crossover from The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead in season 5 where his search for his wife, Sherry, brought him to Texas and Morgan’s group. Dwight had a lot to atone for, after working for Negan and serving as an antagonist on the main show for so long. However, he found redemption in the Fear the Walking Dead cast and has become a loyal and determined warrior by Morgan's side. Dwight finally found Sherry and the two became "ethical outlaws," helping those in need. It is here that he went in search of a man known as Padre.

Christine Evangelista – Sherry

The reason that Dwight joined the Fear the Walking Dead cast was because he was searching for his missing wife, Sherry. She was a cast member on the original show but was one of Negan's many wives. She ended up running to escape Negan, and that meant leaving her real husband, Dwight, as well. Lucky for Dwight, he found Sherry and the two finally reunited. They have since joined forces as the Dark Horses, a team who helps save people from danger. Their most recent rescue was a wrestler named Mickey, who they have since allowed to join their team after rescuing her from Strand.

Former Main Fear The Walking Dead Cast Members

Alycia Debnam-Carey – Alicia Clark

Alicia was from the first season of the Fear the Walking Dead cast, the daughter of Madison. She watched her entire family die and ended up as a strong and competent survivor, trying to help lead the way to a better tomorrow. However, season 7 saw Alicia seemingly dying, and she remained behind when her allies left, so she could protect them from herself. However, the last time she was seen, she seemed alive and well, so there is still a chance she could return to reunite with her shockingly still-alive mother.

Cliff Curtis – Travis Manawa

Travis Manawa was Madison's fiancé in the first season of Fear the Walking Dead, and he was there to try to help save his son Chris and Madison's two children when the outbreak started. Sadly, he failed in many of these areas and ended up moving on through three seasons before he finally died. He was the most optimistic and believed there could be a future for the survivors. However, he died when a sniper named Lee shot him while he was in a helicopter. He then leaped to his death, so he wouldn't reanimate in the enclosed space.

Frank Dillane – Nick Clark

In the original Fear the Walking Dead cast, it looked like Nick Clark was going to be the main character. He was who the viewers latched onto when the zombie outbreak happened. A former heroin addict, he went on the run with his family and ended up surviving for the first four seasons of the show. However, it was his mom Madison who was the main protagonist and Nick ended up with PTSD and was a liability throughout his time on the show. He died when Charlie shot him in season 4.

Elizabeth Rodriguez – Ofelia Salazar

Ofelia was Daniel Salazar's daughter and part of the original season 1 Fear the Walking Dead cast. She was a strong character who began to give up hope after her mother died, and she believed her father perished as well. She eventually left the main survivors and joined up with the Black Hat Reservation. However, before she ended up dying in the third season, she was able to learn her father survived, although she didn't get a chance to see him again before her death.

Maggie Grace – Althea ‘Al’ Szewczek-Przygocki

Maggie Grace was one of the biggest names to join the Fear the Walking Dead cast when she was introduced during season 4. Al is a former journalist who was on a quest to document the stories of apocalypse survivors to honor her brother's death. She ended up meeting Morgan and John and set out to fight and survive by their side. Eventually, she joined Dwight in serving as a scout for the survivors until she left to try to find Isabelle, a woman she fell in love with who had disappeared. She is one of the few who didn't die, but Althea left the show as she and Isabelle went on the run when the CRM showed up.

Garret Dillahunt – John Dorie

The entire Fear the Walking Dead cast underwent a major overhaul in season 4, and new lead cast members arrived. One of these was former cop, John Dorie, and he looked like he would become one of the main stars of the show from there out. He met Al and Morgan and found a group that he could help protect. He even fell in love when he met June, but there was still something missing inside him. Sadly, he wouldn't make it past season 6. John died when he learned that young Dakota had killed Cameron, and she shot and killed him in response.

Keith Carradine – John Dorie Sr.

Arguably, the biggest actor to join the Fear the Walking Dead cast was Keith Carradine, who took on the role of John Dorie Sr. He was an alcoholic retired police officer who was estranged from his son John Jr when the outbreak happened. However, he was able to reunite with his son and then helped work with June Dorie after his son died. The two ended up on a lot of adventures together before they ended up captured by Strand. This is where John Sr. met his demise as he died while they fought to escape the now-evil Strand.
