Here's what to expect for Fear Street Part Three: 1666, including details on the storyline, setting, returning cast, and release date. As the final movie in the Fear Street trilogy, the horror thriller builds upon the events in Fear Street Part One: 1994 and Fear Street Part Two: 1978, both of which released in July 2021 on Netflix. Based on R.L. Stine's eponymous book series, the franchise narrative follows several Ohio teenagers who attempt to understand and defeat the Shadyside Witch, otherwise known as Sarah Fier.

In Fear Street Part One: 1994, Samantha Fraser (Olivia Scott Welch) inadvertently bleeds on Sarah Fier's bones. The Shadyside Witch then summons undead killers from the past, and continues her three-century reign as the #1 public enemy. The film ends with Sarah possessing Sam, while teenagers Deena Johnson (Kiana Madeira) and her brother Josh (Benjamin Flores Jr.) reach out to a woman who survived a 1978 Shadyside massacre. During Fear Street Part Two: 1978, Christine "Ziggy" Berman (Gillian Jacobs) recalls her experiences at Camp Nightwing, and how she managed to survive a massacre despite being viciously attacked by one of Sarah Fier's undead killers.

Fear Street Part Two: 1978 pays homage to classic slasher movies, but also informs the audience about Ziggy's perspective. She and her friends look for Sarah Fier's dismembered hand, which had been lost during a 1666 pact with Satan that allowed the witch to maintain a spiritual presence in Shadyside after being executed. Importantly, the prequel movie doesn't provide any definitive answers about how the 1994 protagonists can defeat Sarah Fier, as Fear Street Part Two: 1978's ending reveals that Deena, Josh, and Samantha are seemingly transported to the 1666 timeline, which complicates the narrative even more and raises questions about Ziggy's role in Fear Street 3.

Fear Street 3's Story & Setting

A skull faced man in Fear Street Trilogy

Fear Street 3's timeline takes place in 1666, 1978, and 1994. In the second movie, Deena manages to locate Sarah Fier's dismembered hand at the Shadyside Mall, which was built over the site of the Camp Nightwing massacre. Fear Street 3 follows the main protagonists as they attempt to solve the mystery of Sarah Fier, with the twist being that they somehow arrive in the 1666 timeline after reuniting the witch with her hand. There, they will presumably come face-to-face with the town's first killer, pastor Cyrus Miller. In the 1994 timeline, Christina aka Ziggy will likely use her knowledge to protect the teenagers, and perhaps enlist her former love interest, Nick Goode (Ashley Zukerman), for assistance. Fear Street Part Two: 1978 shows that Nick resuscitated a technically-dead Ziggy after she was attacked by Sarah Fier's undead killers, and also that he didn't believe her fantastical yet authentic story. As a result, Nick blamed the massacre on Tommy Slater (McCabe Slye), who was actually possessed by the Shadyside Witch. Fear Street 3 appears to be a redemption story for several characters.

Fear Street 3 New & Returning Cast

Stranger Things' Randy Havens also joins the cast as George Fier.
