CBS won't air the FBI season 4 finale due to the recent school shooting in Texas. The Dick Wolf-produced show first premiered in September 2018 and is now in its fourth season. FBI is a fast-paced drama that dives into the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The series stars Jeremy Sisto, Zeeko Zaki, Missy Peregrym, Katherine Renee Turner, and Alana de la Garza. CBS recently renewed FBI for season 5, guaranteeing it a spot in the upcoming 2022-2023 lineup.

The most recent episode of FBI season 4 aired last Tuesday, May 17, and sees the team investigating the shooting of a retired DEA agent who is shot outside of a bakery. Other episodes in the fourth season of the hit CBS drama have centered on drugs, murder, and extremist terrorists. FBI currently has two spin-off seriesFBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted, both of which were able to air their respective season finales on Tuesday, May 24. However, since the latest episode of the original FBI series involves a school shooting, CBS has pulled it from its lineup.

THR reports that CBS has pulled the FBI season 4 finale in light of the shooting that occurred at a Texas elementary school. CBS made the decision due to the fact that the episode, titled "Prodigal Son," centers around a school shooting. The official synopsis for the episode reveals that the FBI team investigates a deadly robbery that armed the killers with a cache of automatic weapons. They soon discover that one of the perpetrators is a classmate of Jubal Valentine's (Sisto) son, Tyler Valentine (Caleb Reese Paul). A repeat episode of FBI was put in the finale's place.

Tuesday afternoon, Texas Governor Greg Abbott confirmed a teenage gunman killed 18 children and one teacher at an elementary school in the town of Uvalde. Abbott later said authorities killed the 18-year-old gunman. President Joe Biden addressed the nation Tuesday night and ordered flags to be flown at half-mast to honor the victims. This is not the first time a television network has pre-empted an episode in light of a tragedy, with shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Castle being affected by real world events.

Considering the subject matter of the FBI episode, it seems CBS has made the right decision to pull it from the network's lineup. The recent Texas shooting is the latest deadly mass shooting in the U.S. in recent weeks. As of now, there have been over 200 mass shootings in 2022 alone. In order to help the victims and the nation heal from this tragedy, the FBI season 4 finale will air at a later date.
