The new trailer for the upcoming Father of the Bride reboot shows its updated story and brand new cast. Originally released in 1991 and starring Steve Martin, Father of the Bride is about a father who, upon hearing that his only daughter is getting married, starts to panic and goes slightly insane.  In 2020 Warner Bros. announced their plan to make a reboot centered around a Latinx family with a script by Matt Lopez. The reboot stars Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan as the bride's parents, Adria Arjona as the titular bride, alongside Diego Boneta and Dora and the Lost City of Gold's Isabella Merced.

In the trailer, Garcia and Estefan struggle with their marriage, although they promise to try and hold it together until their daughter's wedding. However, cupid's arrow might be striking in more places than one this time around, as it seems like the parents could get another chance to make it work, or at least that's how it looks. Overall, the Father of the Bride reboot looks like a refreshing departure from the original formula and might have enough new elements to make it work. It's normal to be hesitant when it comes to remakes of classic comedies, as so many turn out to be terrible, but there are some genuine laughs to be had this time around. Keep an eye out for it when it releases on HBO Max on June 16th.
