Warning: This article contains spoilers for Fate: The Winx Saga season 2.Fate: The Winx Saga season 3 has yet to be officially confirmed, leading to discussions as to how possible a potential renewal could be. Inspired by the popular Winx Club cartoons and its comic book adaptations, the Fate: The Winx Saga world explores the land of fairies. Its main protagonist is Bloom, a Fire Fairy raised on Earth with no knowledge of her true power. Bloom is the heir to an ancient power known as the Dragon Flame, which means her arrival in the mystical school of Alfea causes quite a stir.

The first season of Fate: The Winx Saga saw the fairies of Alfea defend their school for magic against an army of monstrous Burned Ones. Matters escalated in season 2, with a band of sinister Blood Witches hatching a plan to steal magic from the fairies and use it to resurrect members of their own kind who were killed years ago - an act that will result in the destruction of all Alfea. Meanwhile, Bloom struggles to figure out how to control the Dragon Flame, especially when she uncovers dark secrets that tempt her to lash out in anger.

Meanwhile, there are hints a dangerous being called Darkar has found his way to Alfea. The stakes are clearly going to be higher than ever before in Fate: The Winx Saga season 3, with the fairies now separated across the realms and an even greater evil ascendant.

Fate: The Winx Saga Season 3 Renewal Status

Netflix is yet to confirm whether Fate: The Winx Saga will happen, and none of the cast or crew have commented on the possibility either. Netflix has a reputation for canceling shows after two seasons, so it's possible nobody wants to tempt fate. Speaking to Wired, data analyst Tom Harrington, from Enders Analysis, explained there are often financial factors in play after season 2. "They have to give [a show] more money per series, and if they decide to recommission it, it becomes more expensive for them to make," he observed. "Because of that, so many more shows are canceled after two series because it costs them more." Still, in this case, season 1 was a hit for the streaming service, with season 2 confirmed within a month of its release. Assuming a similar pattern, viewers will know whether Fate: The Winx Saga season 3 will happen within the next few weeks.

What Netflix Needs In Order To Renew Fate: The Winx Saga

Netflix's cancelations are data-driven, with three different types of viewers carefully monitored to see whether there is sufficient interest to renew:

  • Starters are households that watch just one episode of a series within the first 7 days
  • Completers are subscribers who finish an entire season within the first 7 days
  • Watchers are the number of subscribers who complete the show within its first 28 days

Netflix do appear to have become far more reluctant to renew shows over the last few months; even The Sandman hasn't been renewed yet, which is quite remarkable given the show's popularity. Still, Fate: The Winx Saga is likely a lot cheaper to make than The Sandman, meaning there's a good chance the streaming giant will make a decision sooner rather than later. Hopefully it will be a positive one, and Fate: The Winx Saga season 3 will become a reality.

Fate: The Winx Saga season 2 is streaming now on Netflix.
