Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) have a habit of racing each other as a way to test their skills in the Fast & Furious movies, but only one character can be considered the best of the best. After a rocky start to their relationship, thanks in part to Dom being a fugitive and Brian being an undercover cop, the two men developed an unbreakable bond. As the franchise progressed, Dom and Brian became more like brothers, especially when they continuously put their lives at risk for dangerous missions. In time, they learned a lot from one another, including their skills behind the wheel.

Dom and Brian faced off twice in 2001's The Fast and the Furious, the film that launched The Fast Saga. After Brian's car malfunctioned, Dom easily won their first street race. The second came in the form of a drag race, which was more of a tie. They later went head to head in Fast & Furious, but Dom won that round by cheating. He then backed off, allowing Brian to win a street race in Fast Five as a gift for the impending birth of his son. The duo raced a few more times, but the circumstances were never too serious.

It's too difficult to use Dom and Brian's races as the sole basis when determining who is the better driver. In some situations, Dom doesn't race fairly since he often had ulterior motives. Granted, it can be concluded that the two characters are at the top of the list when it comes to ranking the skills of all drivers featured in the Fast & Furious franchise. Based on other factors, it's safe to say that Dom will always be the driving champion in the film series.

Why Dom Is The Best Driver In The Fast Saga

A Car Ramps Off the Ice in Fate of the Furious

Dom's crew has participated in some insane moments throughout the franchise, but the man himself was behind the wheel of some of the most dangerous sequences. After driving off a cliff as a form of refuge in Fast Five, Dom accurately drove his car while hanging out of the window to catch Letty in mid-air on a bridge in Fast & Furious 6. In Furious 7, Dom hijacked a Lykan HyperSport and drove it out of the window of an Abu Dhabi skyrise into another building before repeating the action to a third high rise. Later in the movie, Dom managed to evade a collapsing parking garage before ramming his car into a hovering helicopter. He obviously learned a lot from his past because, by the end of The Fate of the Furious, Dom used his driving to destroy a submarine in snow-covered Russia.

Not only has Dom showcased his skill in the Fast & Furious franchise, but he also proves why he's the best driver through his lifestyle. Dom really does live his life a quarter-mile at a time. He takes risks whereas Brian always holds on to the threat of consequences or his own limitations. Maybe it's his history in law enforcement, but when it comes to Dom, nothing forces him to take his foot off of the gas. Even if his life is in danger, he doesn't hesitate, and his senses are often heightened. That may change now that Dom is a father, but nothing will ever change his potential behind the wheel.
