Is there any proof to a fan theory that Kurt Russell's Mr. Nobody could be the father of The Fast And The Furious' Jesse? The first movie in the series was based on an article exploring the subculture of street racing, and it cast relative unknowns Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Paul Walker and Jordana Brewster in the lead roles. The movie was a surprise hit, though the cast largely went their separate ways when it came time for a sequel, with only Paul Walker returning for 2003's 2 Fast 2 Furious.

The third movie The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift focused on new character Sean Boswell, with Vin Diesel returning for a brief cameo in the final scene. Diesel only agreed to this appearance in exchange for the studio handing him the rights to the Riddick character, but it got fans excited about seeing him return for another movie. The fourth movie thus reunited the entire original cast, but Fast Five moved the series into true blockbuster territory and introduced Dwayne Johnson's Hobbs.

The latter proved so popular he earned a spinoff with 2019's Hobbs & Shaw, alongside Jason Statham's antihero. The Fast And The Furious franchise barely resembles the modestly budgeted sleeper hit that kicked off the franchise, though it has maintained an impressive continuity. Original actors have returned after long absences, such as Lucas Black's Boswell with the upcoming F9. Screen icon Kurt Russell joined the series in Furious 7 as Mr. Nobody, a mysterious government agent.

Kurt Russell Mr Nobody Fate of the Furious

Mr. Nobody enlists Dom's crew to help him retrieve a valuable MacGuffin, in exchange for helping them find Statham's, Terminator-esque Shaw. Russell returned for The Fate Of The Furious in a similiar role, and while the character doesn't require much effort from the star, it's still a delight to see him turn up. Before he joined rumors swirled Russell was playing a villain or Jesse's father, who was played by Chad Lindberg in the first movie. Jesse was Dom's mechanical/computer genius, but after losing a race against villain Johnny Tran, he's gunned down by the latter in a drive-by.

Since Mr. Nobody's background is shrouded in mystery, some fans think the original rumors of the character being Jesse's dad could still work. This seems unlikely, however, with Jesse revealing in The Fast And The Furious his father is in prison. The car he races Tran in belongs to his father too, and he hopes the two of them will ride in it together when he gets out. Mr. Nobody appears to be a veteran agent and with the first movie taking place in 2004 and Furious 7 set in 2014, it seems doubtful he could have risen to that position within a decade.

Dom would likely have seen Jesse's father at some point before his prison sentence too. Unless Mr. Nobody was so deep cover that not even his "son" Jesse knew his real job, the two being related doesn't appear to add up. There's also the fact Mr. Nobody has never revealed this piece of information to Dom, which feels a little odd. Stranger reveals have happened in The Fast And The Furious series - Dom suddenly having a brother, for instance - so maybe there is some truth to the Mr. Nobody/Jesse theory, but it looks unlikely.
