F9 star Ludacris thinks a Fast & Furious and Jurassic World crossover movie is a ludicrous idea, “Pun intended, for sure.” The latest film in the Fast saga, F9, premiered in theaters in the United States on June 25 to mixed reviews, but it quickly climbed up the ladder to the third highest-grossing movie of 2021, raking in $500 million at the worldwide box office, an impressive feat as the COVID-19 pandemic still lingers.

With the Fast saga becoming increasingly over-the-top with each entry, fans started joking that the franchise would actually have to go to space to continue raising the bar, which actually came to fruition in F9. The next idea fans have cooked up is a crossover with another popular Universal franchise, Jurassic World, which has even been validated by multiple stars from each franchise not ruling out the crossover when asked about it. However, the latest F9 star to address the potential crossover struck a different tone.

During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ludacris was the latest Fast & Furious star to respond to the notion of a crossover with Jurassic World. Talking to guest host Wanda Sykes, the actor (whose real name is Chris Bridges) was very dismissive of all the crossover chatter, saying it’s “the most ridiculous thing” he’s heard in his entire life. Read his full comments below, per ET Canada:

I’m just going to be honest with you. Look, they surprised me in this franchise with a lot of things of how we continue to top ourselves. But nowhere in my right mind do I see Jurassic World and Fast & Furious coming together. Maybe they gotta convince me but I just don’t see it. That’s ludicrous. Pun intended, for sure. I’m trying to say, all these fast cars and dinosaurs together, it doesn’t make sense to me.

Ludacris May Have Accidentally Confirmed Fast 9 Goes to Space

Ludacris makes a good point about the crossover not making much sense, which is seemingly why his F9 co-star Tyrese Gibson recommended a Fast & Furious/Transformers crossover instead. While the two car-centric franchises would probably cross over more seamlessly, it is far more unlikely given that the films are from two different studios in Universal and Paramount.

On the other hand, a Fast & Furious/Jurassic World crossover, while still unlikely, is somewhat grounded in reality since both franchises are from Universal Pictures. Ludacris’ F9 co-star Michelle Rodriguez was much more receptive of the idea when she was asked about it back in April, and director Justin Lin refused to rule it out. With two films in the Fast saga to go, there’s no telling where the franchise could go next. The mere idea of going to space was once considered an equally ludicrous idea, so perhaps it would be wise for F9 stars not to rule anything out at this point.
