WARNING! This article contains SPOILERS for Fast X!Fast X has set up the successor to Dominic Toretto after the Fast Saga ends. In Fast X, Dom (Vin Diesel) and co. face a new enemy in Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), who launches an attack on Dom's family as payback for their heist on the Reyes family in Fast Five. Fast X is also the first chapter of the finale of the Fast Saga, which Vin Diesel has said will conclude with Fast & Furious 12.

Fast X is full of absurd, superhuman feats, which are well-known as the Fast Saga's bread and butter, but with the franchise's finale beginning to unfold, even Dominic Toretto cannot speed into action against his enemies indefinitely. That said, he will not have to, with the Fast Saga poised to continue through numerous Fast & Furious spin-off movies after the main series ends. The biggest question is who could follow in Dom's footsteps after his eventual retirement from the series, and Fast X indicates that it will be none other than Dom's own son, Brian (Leo Abelo Perry).

Brian Toretto Can Take Over For Dom As The Lead For Future Fast & Furious MoviesFast X Dominic Toretto Brian

Brian was first introduced as an infant in The Fate of the Furious, when Dom learns that he conceived a child with his former girlfriend Elena Neves (Elsa Pataky). Following Elsa's death, Dom raises Brian with his wife Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez), with Brian himself being named after Dom's old friend Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker). Fast X is the first movie in the series to make the young Brian an active participant in one of Dom's missions, and in doing so, sets him up to follow in his father's footsteps.

Fast X opens with Dom training Brian in donut-spinning in a vacant parking lot, while Brian is also essentially partnered up with Dom's brother Jakob Toretto (John Cena) for much of the movie. To be sure, Brian is still a kid and a long way off from being able to handle the kind of ridiculous car stunts of Fast X. Still, he already shows he has Dom and co.'s talent for defying physics when he leaps from Dante's spinning car to Dom's in the movie's final chase, which demonstrates that he is up to the task of mastering what his father does behind the wheel.

How Fast & Furious Already Set Up Brian Toretto As Dom's Replacement

In Fast X's cliffhanger ending, Dom and his family are caught in a tight spot by Dante, with Dom and Brian standing right in front of a dam set to explode. While Brian's car training at the beginning of Fast X shows him taking small steps into his father's brand of automotive heroism, the rest of the movie is a trial by fire for Brian. Fast & Furious 11 is likely to amp that up even more right from the beginning for Brian and could show him taking an even more active role against Dante, which could potentially even involve Brian saving Dom's life as the dam collapses.

Aside from the skill set Brian is developing, he is also the best candidate to succeed Dom on a thematic level. The Fast & Furious movies are famously built on the concept of family, and Brian could be the perfect leader to continue the found family his father started in the original Fast & Furious movies. With Brian's name being a tribute to Brian O'Conner's (and Paul Walker's) significance to the series, Fast X is well into preparing Brian Toretto to become the new Dom after the Fast Saga concludes.
