The Fast and the Furious franchise may so over the top that there’s no sky in view, but you have to hand it to the series to make fans care about a group of criminals who don’t shy away from the lifestyle they’ve chosen.

Each one of the main characters has committed acts that should put them away for life, but it doesn’t end there as they’re guilty of doing things that could be seen as even worse. Now that Hobbs & Shaw is out and we’re waiting for Fast & Furious 9, it’s worth checking out these 10 worst things each character has done.

Deckard Shaw: Killing Han

There’s a whole “Justice for Han” movement on the internet from fans who are soured by Deckard Shaw walking away Scott-free despite having killed Han. Shaw is also guilty for leveling the hospital that had been treating his little brother for his coma, where he blew up and shot about a dozen or so men.

Killing Han was nothing more than act of aggression toward Dominic, rather than it having to do anything with Han himself. As of The Fate of the Furious, Deckard has seemingly been absolved of this murder without any repercussions, but the fans will never forget.

Brian O'Conner: Not Helping Out Roman From Getting Arrested

Since 2 Fast 2 Furious is such an age old memory by now, most people either don’t remember or don’t know that Roman and Brian had a falling out once. This stemmed from the fact that Brian had left Roman and his former life and joined the police.

Not even a couple months after he’d joined, Roman was caught for stealing cars and carted off to jail. Roman was left fuming for years feeling as if Brian abandoned him at his time of need; considering all the illegal stuff Brian has done over the years for his “family”, we have to go with Roman on this one and agree Brian could have gotten his friend off the hook but didn’t.

Luke Hobbs: Turning His Father Over To The Authorities

Dwayne Johnson as Hobbs in Fast and Furious 6

Ultimately, this was a good thing that Hobbs did, seeing as his criminal father was responsible for the death of his brothers. Hobbs’ father never saw his sons as anything more than a crew he could utilize, leading to Hobbs turning the man in to protect his family.

However, this led to Hobbs’ family shunning him and he was left on his own for years with no-one to turn to. There’s also the matter that he did betray his father in some ways, and most people would be appalled to learn this knowledge. With speculation that Hobbs & Shaw 2 might feature Hobbs’ father as the antagonist, Hobbs’ actions might come back to haunt him.

Tej Parker: Undermining Roman All The Time

Tej Cropped.v1

There’s not one specific worst thing that Tej has done (although being a criminal is bad in itself), but his treatment of Roman has led to the crew taking the latter as a joke. Whenever Roman is being laughed at, it’s Tej who’s started it out by throwing in a sarcastic jab his way.

Before Fast Five, Roman used to be seen as a more able character, but thanks to Tej putting his ideas (and whatever Roman does) down by pointing out how stupid it is, none of Dominic’s crew now takes Roman seriously.

Han Lue: Stealing From Business Partner

Han Seoul-Oh in Fast and Furious

After Gisele dies, Han decides to finally head to Tokyo (he’d been talking about going there for like five years after all), where he didn’t quite let go of his criminal tendencies. Here, Han found a business partner in Takashi, the nephew of a Yakuza member; Han would steal funds from their business without either knowing.

Although the men Han was stealing from weren’t good people in the slightest, there’s still the honor system that even thieves are known to abide by. It seems Han didn’t have any problems betraying his business partners, making him a man no-one can really trust. On top of that, he was openly boastful when he got caught in the act.

Gisele Yashar: Leaving The Army To Become A Criminal

Gal Gadot as Gisele in Fast and Furious

It was mentioned in conversation during Fast Five that Gisele used to be a Mossad agent, meaning she came from a background that had seen her be part of the intelligence of her country.

Somewhere down the line, though, Gisele seems to have let go of the pride that comes with serving one’s country and turned to personal profit. Even though the main characters are good guys in the fans’ eyes, they really are criminals who seek to benefit themselves; coming from an army history, you’d think Gisele would have had some problems with going the illegal route.

Mia Toretto: Not Stopping Dominic From His Criminal Activities

Mia looking confused in Fast and Furious.

Mia is the sweet-natured younger sister of Dominic, who hardly ever takes part in the action and represents the motherly side of the family. However, there’s still the matter of Mia being part of a criminal group, one she’s openly knowledgeable about.

In The Fast and the Furious, it was shown that Mia didn’t approve of Dominic’s activities as a heist mastermind, where he stole millions of dollars worth of electronic equipment. Just being disapproving doesn’t do anything, however, and her lack of action in convincing Dom to go legitimate with his living makes her just as guilty as the rest.

Roman Pearce: Whatever He Did With "No Knees" Denise

Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce looking sideways in Fate of the Furious

Like it has been with Roman in his last few appearances in the series, this entry is more of a joke as well. In Furious 7, Brian revealed that Roman’s only “take-down” accomplishment in his life was when he did so to “No Knees” Denise.

The implication was that something embarrassing happened to Roman during prom night and it seems as if this was Roman’s most shameful moment. We’ve seen Roman brush away jokes at his expense most of the time, but this particular one hit him hard seeing as he was openly embarrassed. Hopefully, future Fast and Furious films might expand on this joke.

Letty Ortiz: Assisting Shaw's Criminal Activities

When Letty fell into an amnesiac state after the attack on her life in Fast & Furious, she was recruited by Owen Shaw as a driver for his mercenary activities. During this time, Letty would be essential in attacks made at military convoys by Shaw’s crew, which resulted in extreme damage and deaths.

While the justification is that Letty wasn’t being her true personality due to her manipulation at the hands of Shaw, there’s still no escaping the fact that she still carried out multiple convoy attacks, which almost resulted in billions worth of military equipment falling in the hands of terrorists.

Dominic Toretto: Forgiving Shaw Easily

Even worse than Shaw killing Han was Toretto letting the former off the hook so easily. Sure, Shaw did rescue Dom’s son, but that shouldn’t be cause enough to let the man enter his home and become part of his family.

The ending of The Fate of the Furious even had Dom and Deckard sharing a laugh amid having good times with the rest of their group as if nothing had ever happened between them. You just know Han’s soul in heaven is looking down scandalized at this turn of events. What was the point of all that talk from Dom that “Han was family”.
