A new F9 video highlights the fearless women of the Fast & Furious franchise. Universal's adrenaline-fueled franchise has been male dominant from the very beginning, but Fast & Furious has always made sure to include some strong female characters. Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez) and Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster) have been with the series from the beginning and are both returning to action for F9. The continued popularity and expansion of the franchise means that plenty of other women are along for the ride too.

The cast of F9 brings back the usual testosterone-heavy crew of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), but the cast also features several other new and returning female characters. Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel), Cipher (Charlize Theron), and Queenie (Helen Mirren) are all back after appearing in previous franchise installments. F9 also features the debut of new characters played by Anna Sawai and Cardi B. Some of these women have already been featured in previous marketing materials, but now Universal has brought them all together in a single video.

Universal Pictures released a new promotional video for F9 titled "Fast & Fearless - The Women of Fast & Furious 9" that puts the women in the spotlight. It includes some brief moments of new footage, the first tease of Cardi B's character, and clips from interviews with Rodriguez, Brewster, Theron, Mirren, Emmanuel, and Cardi B. Check it out below:

The emphasis on the female power in F9 comes after some of the franchise's female stars criticized the series' use of its women characters. Michelle Rodriguez was the most vocal of the group and even suggested she wouldn't return if things didn't change. Since she is back for F9 and the movie features more prominent female characters than past entries, it appears that those differences were resolved. Letty and Mia's team-up could be one of the positive outcomes of this, as the characters haven't shared a single scene alone before F9.

This F9 video and the movie itself won't be the last time the Fast & Furious franchise highlights its female characters. Universal has been developing a female-centric Fast & Furious spinoff movie for the last few years. Diesel previously announced that Nicole Perlman, Lindsey Beer, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet are involved with the movie, but there haven't been any additional updates on it since then. Many fans want to see the spinoff utilize some of the F9 female stars, introduce new characters, and bring back prior stars like Gal Gadot and Eva Mendes. Hopefully, there is set up for the Fast & Furious female spinoff in the upcoming blockbuster.
