Vin Diesel and Fast & Furious 9 show their support for movie theaters in a new AMC exclusive trailer. Diesel will return once more as Dominic Toretto for Fast & Furious 9, the latest installment in the high-octane car franchise. Properly titled F9, this film will find Dom's perfect domestic life disturbed by the appearance of his long-lost brother Jakob (John Cena), a mercenary with less than noble intentions behind reuniting with his family. In between all the customary heart-pounding action scenes, Fast & Furious 9 will also see the long-awaited return of Han (Sung Kang) for the first time since his apparent death in Fast & Furious 6.

Fast & Furious 9 is highly anticipated among fans, but it has unfortunately been slow to arrive due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of debuting in 2020 as planned, Universal pushed the Justin Lin-directed movie back to this year. Currently, Fast & Furious 9 is scheduled for release on June 25 with the hopes that moviegoing will be back to relative normal. While several blockbuster movies have made the decision to go for dual streaming/theatrical releases, Fast & Furious 9 is one of the notable exceptions to remain completely dedicated to being available in theaters only.

That commitment to the theatrical experience is on full display in a new Fast & Furious 9 video from AMC Theatres. The clip, which is part-trailer, part-theater PSA, features Diesel speaking to the special feeling that comes from seeing a movie in a theater. "There's nothing like that moment when the lights go down, the projector ignites, and we believe," Diesel says. The trailer spotlights several action sequences from Fast & Furious 9, as if to emphasize how much audiences are going to want to see them on a big screen. You can watch the trailer down below.

Movie theaters have taken an immense hit over the past year due to the pandemic. For example, AMC has been on the brink of bankruptcy, and California's ArcLight theaters will close for good. Exhibitors have been looking for major movies to help usher audiences back through their doors, and luckily there have been some signs of improvement in recent weeks. A pair of Warner Bros. movies, Godzilla vs. Kong and Mortal Kombat have helped post some pandemic-best numbers at the box office, and the hope is that increased vaccine rollout will only continue to aid theaters' recovery. In another positive sign, this video also hints at the improving relations between Universal and AMC after their public feud over shortening release windows last summer.

Fast & Furious 9 is definitely the kind of movie that is best seen on a big screen with its out-of-this-world stunts. Literally, this time, as Fast & Furious 9 looks to be finally heading to space. Cena has previously said this movie is a reason for fans to go to theaters, and the above video pushes that case even further. June is still over a month away, so it's hard to say just what the state of moviegoing will be like then. However, if things continue their upward swing, Diesel's hope for a major return to theaters might not be so far out of the question.
