In anticipation of tomorrow's trailer release, Fast & Furious 9 has debuted 8 new motion posters of the main cast. The latest installment of the physics-defying franchise has been a long time coming, as it was once scheduled for release in the spring of 2020. However, the coronavirus pandemic delayed it multiple times; as of right now, Fast & Furious 9 remains scheduled for June 25 of this year. The hope is that more theaters will be open by then - and that moviegoers will be more likely to venture out to see the movie.
Fast & Furious 9, officially titled F9, will see the returns of much of Dominic Toretto's (Vin Diesel) family, including some surprising faces. For one thing, the film will introduce Dom's never-before-seen (or mentioned) brother Jakob (John Cena), who stands as one of the main antagonists along with a returning Cipher (Charlize Theron). On a far happier note, Fast & Furious 9 will make fans' dreams come true and bring back Han (Sung Kang), a beloved member of the team who died in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. Exactly how he is back remains to be seen.
The new marketing campaign for Fast & Furious 9 is ready to kick off, with a new trailer coming tomorrow. Ahead of that release, F9 has unveiled 8 new motion posters for the entire main cast. Starting off with Diesel, the posters show each cast member striking a pose in front of their chosen vehicle. This includes Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, and, last but not least, Kang. Check them out below.
Since the first trailer's release well over a year ago, there hasn't been much by way of promotion for Fast & Furious 9, save for a Super Bowl spot in February. The above posters are largely similar to the ones that debuted last year, though these provide new looks at the cast. As always with the Fast & Furious franchise, it's all about family, and seeing the group back together again already elicits plenty of excitement. The placement of Cena's Jakob in the middle breaks up the happy reunion a bit, perhaps hinting he'll be quite the threat to Dom and his crew.
The inclusion of Jakob in Fast & Furious 9 is both exciting and mind-boggling. Some fans are confused about Dom suddenly having a brother, but the news that Diesel's son will have a role in Fast & Furious 9 as a young Dom indicates the movie will dive headfirst into some flashbacks. That will flesh out Dom and Jakob's history, perhaps making for a movie that is more personal than ever before. Hopefully, more story details will be revealed with tomorrow's trailer.
