A new clip from F9: The Fast Saga has been revealed showing Vin Diesel's Dom and Michelle Rodriguez's Letty perform a wild new cart stunt while fleeing enemy helicopters. Co-written and directed by Justin Lin in his fifth outing for the franchise, the story centers on Dom and his crew as they face off against Charlize Theron's Cipher once again. Only this time, she's enlisted the help of Dom's estranged brother, master thief and assassin, John Cena's Jakob.
In a rare move for the franchise, many details regarding the film's story and action sequences have been generally kept under wraps by talent. With the first trailer of the film revealing the return of Sung Kang's Han Lue, thought to have been dead for the past two films, all bets were off regarding what heights the ninth installment of the long-running series would strive for. The bar was raised even higher after Diesel, Rodriguez and Ludacris spilled the beans that the film would involve space travel of some kind.
With only a few weeks left until the film races to American theaters, Rotten Tomatoes took to Twitter to share a clip from F9 that sees Dom and Letty on the run from a group of enemy helicopters. In a bid to escape and with the bridge leading to a nearby island destroyed, Dom devises a plan involving a Tarzan-like swing. The new clip can be viewed below:
At first glance, the clip may appear familiar to some who have seen the various trailers and TV spots for F9 since the first one aired during last year's Super Bowl. But, unlike the quick glimpse at the gravity-defying stunt previous footage has shown of the sequence, the new teaser offers fans a better look at why Dom elects goes for the swing. Rather than in pursuit of his brother and his aircraft with car-magnet abilities, it appears the duo are on the run from a group of armed helicopters, likely still due to his brother.
The new clip also offers fans a look into the quick thinking many have already come to associate with Dom across the Fast & Furious' 20-year-old franchise. Though early F9 reactions have shifted gears in criticizing the unrealistic nature of the film's set pieces while praising the story, fans likely won't be walking away disappointed from the latest chapter in The Fast Saga as they know never to expect anything less than ridiculous by this point. Audiences will have to wait and see how it shakes out when the film hits theaters in the U.S. on June 25.
