The Fast & Furious franchise has been on the road for quite awhile (pun). The franchise began in Los Angeles, before subsequent sequels moved the adventures of Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) and their gang to the roads of Miami, Tokyo, Mexico (after stops in LA and DR), Brazil and Europe, respectively.
Along the way, the franchise has evolved from street racer sub-culture expose (with dashes of crime-drama action) to a full-on crime-drama action franchise (with dashes of street racer sub-culture). This transition remains a divisive issue for the fanbase, with some fans of the earlier films loudly condemning a perceived "loss of roots" in more recent films.
Well, fans on both sides of the Fast & Furious division can maybe appreciate this latest bit of news: Vin Diesel is claiming that Fast & Furious 7 (currently in production) will be bringing things back around to LA. As reported by Variety, the following quote came from Diesel during an after party for Fast & Furious 6's premiere:
“I told the Universal people there was no way we were not having a Los Angeles premiere,” Diesel said. “One other thing: For ‘Fast and Furious 7,’ we are bringing it back to Los Angeles!”
