All of the Fast & Furious 6 marketing material unveiled so far points to director Justin Lin and screenwriter Chris Morgan pulling out every stop on this installment, incorporating tank battles and aircraft takedowns and even Gina Carano and Michelle Rodriguez engaging in bone-crunching fisticuffs.
However, according to the rumors currently fresh and hot out of the oven, it's all going to be a warm-up act for Fast & Furious 7 - which, according to these reports, would bring the story full-circle and introduce what could be the ultimate baddie in the franchise.
We won't be able to say either way on that issue, until Fast and Furious 6 power-slides into theaters. In the meantime, though, you can watch the trailer showing in theaters - which is essentially a truncated version of the extended preview, but with less story and equant amounts of action and spectacle (not to mention, a few bits of previously-unseen footage sprinkled here and there) - in addition to a new poster, which swaps out Vin Diesel and his ride for Paul Walker and his own vehicle of choice.
In addition to Diesel, Walker and Rodriguez, the cast welcomes back Dwayne "The People's Champion" Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Elsa Pataky. Meanwhile, the newcomers count Carano, Luke Evans, Joe Taslim and Clara Paget among their ranks.
Here is the official synopsis, followed by the new Fast & Furious 6 poster:
Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.
Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.
