President of Universal Pictures Peter Cramer addresses whether the ongoing writers' strike will affect the release plans for Fast & Furious 11. After 2021's F9, Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto and his extended family of blood relatives and friends are set to return to face off against Jason Momoa's new villain in Fast X. The film is expected to serve as the first part of the conclusion of the main Fast & Furious franchise, with an eleventh film from returning director Louis Leterrier already in the works.

Ahead of the release of Fast X this month, Cramer reveals in a recent interview with Los Angeles Times whether audiences can expect a delay for Fast & Furious 11's release date. The film is currently slated for a 2025 release, but that could well change due to the WGA strike, he confirms. Check out Cramer's full comment below:

“The writers’ strike is something that’s on everybody’s mind. It depends on how long it goes, but obviously it will interrupt the writing process on the next ‘Fast’ movie. If it lasts for too long, it’ll be hard to imagine that we can get this film up on the timeline we’d like to.”

Is Fast & Furious 11 Still The Last One?

Dom and Letty in the Fast and Furious franchise

Before a trailer for Fast X had even been released, it was seemingly confirmed that, after F9, two additional films would conclude the Fast & Furious saga. To that end, the upcoming installment has been widely referred to as "Part One" of the final chapter. It's also been confirmed that Fast X ends on a cliffhanger, directly leading to Fast & Furious 11.

Recently, however, at the Fast X premiere in Rome, Diesel seemingly confirms that Fast & Furious 12 is also in the works. The actor reveals that after the studio saw Fast X, they asked that the planned two-part finale be turned into a three-part finale. Diesel quickly cut the interview short after sharing this revelation, and Universal Pictures has not yet commented on the news.

Considering Fast & Furious 11 has not yet been filmed and is seemingly still in the writing stage, it's certainly possible that whatever tentative plans exist for the movie could be altered to make the story a "Part Two" of three. If Fast & Furious 11 is delayed from its 2025 release date due to the writers' strike, however, Fast & Furious 12 may not conclude the epic saga until 2028 or beyond.
