Vin Diesel urged his “little brother” Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to return for Fast & Furious 10, which would be the perfect way to finally end the two actors' very public feud. Johnson originally joined the franchise as Agent Luke Hobbs in Fast Five and reprised his role in the next few installments — until the tension between Johnson and Vin Diesel escalated on the set of The Fate of The Furious. The decades-long franchise will come to an end with two final movies, the first of which is slated to be released on April 7, 2023; if Johnson made an appearance in Fast 10, it would go a long way in signaling the end of his bad blood with Vin Diesel.

Dwayne Johnson starred alongside Jason Statham in the Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, which has its own sequel in the works; however, the Black Adam star has not appeared in the main Fast & Furious franchise since the public feud with Vin Diesel began. His character Luke Hobbs first appeared in the franchise as a DSS agent who was sent to hunt down Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto, believing that Toretto and his crew had murdered a group of DEA agents. Over the course of the franchise, Hobbs became an unlikely ally to Toretto and later, even considered himself part of Toretto’s “family.” The behind-the-scenes drama, however, was hinted at with cryptic social media posts, and became apparent when the Toretto and Hobbs never actually appeared on screen together in The Fate of the Furious.

Although most of the major players from the Fast & Furious franchise are slated to return, Johnson has already stated that he has no intention to appear in Fast & Furious 10 or 11. In an Instagram post, Vin Diesel asked Dwayne Johnson to "fulfill his destiny," hoping to convince his former co-star to change his mind about appearing in the final installments. While Diesel's words were a bit melodramatic, Dwayne Johnson’s return to the Fast & Furious franchise would bring back a fan-favorite character and would allow both Diesel and Johnson to come out of this conflict positively. Appearing on screen together again after Diesel’s olive branch would give both Fast & Furious stars a chance to publicly squash their beef and give fans an exciting culmination to a beloved franchise.

Vin diesel the rock Hobbs return for Fast and furious 10

Both Johnson and Diesel are huge action movie stars, known for playing loveable tough guys in their movies and giving off similar vibes in their real-life personas. The two of them sharing a screen made sense on paper; however, the two action stars clashed, with Johnson accusing Diesel of bad behavior on set. He has since expressed regret about speaking out so publicly, but there hasn't been any clear resolution to the beef, and Johnson seems to have closed the door on the possibility of Hobbs sharing a screen with Toretto in future installments. Dwayne Johnson appearing in Fast & Furious 10 would show that both actors are capable of putting aside their differences and can come together to create a satisfying ending for their fans. The film could also have some fun with their real-life feud by including some meta jokes between Hobbs and Toretto.

Vin Diesel’s willingness to bury the hatchet with Dwayne Johnson is a step towards an on-screen reunion, which would no doubt be an exciting moment for fans of the franchise. There’s no better way to end the feud than with a big team-up, bringing back familiar faces, and sending the Fast & Furious franchise off in style. Dwayne Johnson has yet to respond to Diesel’s Instagram post, but the return of Agent Hobbs could be just what they need to end their feud. The 10th installment is still a year and a half away, which gives Johnson plenty of time to consider the offer. If the two do reunite on screen, it could be a big box office draw, turning Fast & Furious 10 into one of the most anticipated movies of 2023.
