Brand new photos from the set of Fast & Furious 10 confirm Helen Mirren will return to reprise her role as the iconic Queenie. The criminal mastermind made her Fast & Furious franchise debut in 2017's The Fate of the Furious, then continued her role in the spinoff Hobbs & Shaw and last year's F9. Production is currently underway for the next installment of the street-racing franchise, with filmmaker Louis Leterrier recently taking over as director. The 10th chapter, officially titled Fast X, will serve as the first movie in a two-part finale to the series.

The latest volume in the Fast & Furious franchise will see the returns of core cast members Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Sung Kang. Fresh faces to the franchise include Brie Larson as an undisclosed character, Rita Moreno as Dominic Toretto's grandma, and Jason Momoa as an unnamed villain. Details are so far being kept under wraps regarding the plot of Fast X. However, it seems the central story will follow the return of Charlize Theron as villain Cipher.

It appears Mirren will also be returning as Magdalene "Queenie" Shaw in Fast & Furious 10, as revealed by set photos obtained by Digital Spy. Mirren can be seen filming alongside Diesel at the Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome. The photos show Mirren and Diesel's Dom embracing, followed by Mirren stroking Diesel's cheek. Although much of the previous Fast & Furious ensemble was expected to return, nothing was confirmed until now regarding Mirren's Queenie.

Helen Mirren Fast and Furious

With the confirmation that Mirren will return as Queenie, it's safe to assume that her character will play a big role in the next chapter of the Fast & Furious franchise. At least, one can only hope so after F9. Despite holding the meaty role as mother to two of Fast & Furious' biggest villains, Mirren only had a small part in last year's blockbuster film. Dom turned to her for help in tracking down his brother Jakob (John Cena), and based on the new Fast X set photos, it looks like he will once again be turning to Queenie for assistance. Mirren and Diesel have been open about their affection for each other, so it is nice to see that another onscreen reunion is in the cards.

It so far looks like Fast & Furious 10 is compiling an all-star cast of returning players and exciting new faces. With the movie being the first in a two-part finale, it can be assumed that Fast X will be an emotional ride filled with plenty of callbacks to previous films. Perhaps Queenie's return in the film suggests at deeper references to her sons, Owen (Luke Evans) and Deckard (Jason Statham). In the case of the latter, he was shown in the post-credits scene for F9, so maybe he'll find his way into the Fast & Furious 10 cast as well. With production still underway and new cast members being announced with frequency, anything seems possible right now. Hopefully, more information is soon to come regarding what fans can expect from Fast & Furious 10, and more will be revealed on Mirren's presence in the next installment of the iconic franchise.
