Brie Larson opens up for the first time about joining The Fast and Furious 10. Franchise star and producer Vin Diesel recently announced that the Academy Award-winning actress has boarded the Justin Lin-directed flick in an unknown role. She's just the latest superstar to have joined the ranks of the immensely popular Fast series.
The series has come a long way since Rob Cohen's original The Fast and the Furious in 2001, which started off as a fairly straightforward action flick about street racing. After The Fast and Furious 9, the franchise is now down to only two films left in the main storyline. While Diesel and everyone involved can't talk about spoilers, it's expected that Charlize Theron's Cipher will continue to be the series' primary antagonist. Meanwhile, Jason Momoa has also boarded The Fast and Furious 10 as a secondary villain, albeit without a name at this point. The Game of Thrones and Dune star has teased, however, that his antagonist will be fun and flamboyant.
Larson being cast in The Fast and Furious 10 is exciting as she previously expressed her eagerness to join the franchise. So, it's unsurprising that she is thrilled, opening up about it in an Instagram post celebrating the new gig. Since both Diesel and Larson are mum about the latter's role in The Fast and Furious 10 and there's barely anything known about the film's narrative thus far, it's difficult to predict how the actress will fit in the story. Considering the fact that the initial announcement personally came from Diesel, it's possible that Larson's character is more of an ally to "la familia" rather than a foe. It's worth noting that Diesel hasn't even posted about Momoa boarding The Fast Saga; instead, it's the Aquaman star who has been teasing his new role in the successful franchise. It's also possible that instead of being an integral part of The Fast and Furious 10, Larson's role could even be a glorified cameo. In recent years, the film series has brought in big-name stars for guest-starring roles.
Larson and Diesel are both in the MCU, playing Captain Marvel and voicing Groot, respectively. However, their characters haven't had any direct interaction — at least thus far. They were both in the climactic fight scene at the end of Avengers: Endgame, but since Groot is a fully-CGI character, Diesel was never physically on set. But the pair connected one way or another, resulting in Larson's role in The Fast and Furious 10.
