Vin Diesel confirms Fast & Furious 10 and Fast & Furious 11 begin filming in January 2022. The latest entry in the Fast & Furious franchise, F9, is just now hitting theaters. The movie is poised to set a new record for the biggest opening weekend since COVID-19 began, and the movie was already performing incredibly well overseas. F9's success is hardly a surprise given the franchise's popularity in recent years, and it bodes well for Universal based on their plans for what comes next.

Universal announced in 2020 that the main Fast & Furious franchise is finally coming to an endFast & Furious 10 and Fast & Furious 11 were confirmed, with director Justin Lin set to shepherd the two-part finale. This move was inspired by the success of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, as Fast & Furious 10 was originally set to be the end. Now that audiences around the world can see F9, there is already great interest in the impending conclusion.

With F9 only just hitting theaters, this might seem like a quick turnaround for the Fast & Furious franchise in the minds of most fans. However, it is important to remember that F9's release was delayed a full year from the original 2020 launch. The cast of the Fast & Furious movies haven't spent time together filming since 2019, so many of them are likely eager to reunite with the family for this final adventure. Universal planned for Fast & Furious 10 to be released in 2022 under that plan, but that clearly won't happen given the new production timeline.

Fast & Furious 10 and Fast & Furious 11 starting production in January 2022 should mean fans are treated to plenty of updates on the movies in the months to come. F9's ending sets up where the sequels could go and which characters are likely to be involved. Many fans are hoping that the conclusion includes the return of Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs in some capacity. There's even the chance that the crew will find a way to bring Brian O'Connor back. And now that the franchise has drifted to space, audiences will also be eager to find out what insane stunts the two-part finale will include.
