The Fast X trailers have provided a selection of suitably over-the-top moments for the incoming movie - with six particularly standing out amongst the others. Based on the footage, those who love the Fast & Furious franchise will not be disappointed in this newest installment. Aside from the full trailer, there was a one-minute TV spot for the Super Bowl that was full of high-adrenaline chases, explosions, and stunts. They all happen because of a new threat: Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa).

Dante is out for revenge against Dominic "Dom" Toretto (Vin Diesel), whom he blames for the death of his father, Hernan Reyes (Joachim de Almeida), despite the fact that Reyes had directly and indirectly murdered Dom's crew at the time. In response to the deaths, Dom and his crewmate Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) had stolen Reyes' safe with his entire cash estate. Hernan Reyes died in the ensuing shoot-out.

Fast-forward to Fast X, and Hernan's son, villain Dante Reyes is determined to destroy Dom's entire extended family, which would be a massacre of dozens of people - and he's definitely creative in his attempts to do so.

6 Dante's Henchman Breaking a Solid Wood Floor

Jason Momoa rides a motorcycle in Fast X.

In a scene sure to be harrowing in the movie, the Fast X trailer shows Dom's home and family are attacked by people in military-type gear. They go through every room, shooting through walls and breaking down doors. Dom and his family do fight back to great effect. In one iconic moment, one of Reyes' accomplices is thrown completely through one solid wood floor and then falls through another wood floor until finally landing two stories down. Bringing the fight home in this way is different from the early Fast & Furious movies. However, this choice fits in with the very personal danger that the characters often find themselves in.

The fact is that it is basically impossible for a person to be able to be thrown with such force that the momentum could create two huge holes in solid wood flooring. There's also no indication that the person survived this fall, making it especially brutal. However, watching someone face this epic fall for such a long distance is viscerally thrilling. Although outlandish in part, this stunt provides an adrenaline rush that also makes it clear to the viewer that no one is genuinely in peril. After all, it's always satisfying to see the bad guys fall.

5 The Runway For The Car

Vin Diesel as Dom Toretto driving a wrecked car in Fast X

Another unbelievable yet epic stunt in Fast X is Dom's entrance by carrier plane. The Fast X trailer sees him improbably drives backward out of the plane and lands on two cars before speeding off. His vehicle is slightly the worse for wear after this entrance, but it still works. In reality, there is just no way a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T could drop from a plane, crush two sedans, and drive off essentially unscathed.

However, that improbability is why this scene works. Needless to say, a car driving backward out of a plane isn't seen outside of action movies like Fast X. Fast & Furious always has some legendary entrance by the hero leading up to the final battle. Jason Momoa's Dante Reyes villain is going to extreme lengths in order to exact revenge. Therefore, Dom and his gang have to respond with just as extreme defensive measures, such as driving out of a cargo plane.

4 Dante's Flamethrowers

Jason Momoa sticking his arms out as Dante in Fast X

One surreal moment in the Fast X trailer has a determined-looking Dante Reyes activate two massive flamethrowers on the sides of his heavily modified 1966 Chevy Impala. Doing so in real life would logically char Dante before anyone else - or at least give him a potentially fatal case of smoke inhalation. Moreover, the heavy fuel tanks needed for flamethrowers like these would definitely slow down any standard car - but in the Fast & Furious world, it fits in. It's especially fitting here because Dante is clearly not thinking rationally, and he's out for blood. He may not care if he survives as long as Dom's family does not.

These iconic Fast & Furious supercharged fire canons work as designed and cause two cars to collide in perfect, cinematic unison. It's incredible to watch, but clearly impossible. Dante would have gotten caught in the flames himself and definitely wouldn't have been able to keep driving. Not only can he keep going unharmed, but his car can keep up in the high-speed chase despite its heavy modifications. It is not possible, but physics is suspended in the name of the rule of cool.

3 The Harpooning Of Dom's Car

Vin Diesel as Dom Toretto driving a car in Fast X trailer

One scene in the Fast X trailer that is both hilarious and harrowing is when Dom's car is harpooned on either side by two helicopters. The car, presumably with Dom in it, is raised high above the bridge. In a move that strains even this ridiculous Fast & Furious franchise story, it remains perfectly level without much visible damage. Then, it is suddenly dropped to the roadway below, and Dom speeds away. The two helicopters that harpooned him crash into each other in a fireball close enough to the ground to theoretically affect the cars, but of course, it doesn't. Dom continues to speed his way down the bridges.

The sheer absurdity of the image of a car being harpooned by two helicopters dropped squarely on the road and surviving the fall to continue the escape is just so over the top that it's impossible not to like it. Add an explosive aerial helicopter crash, and this scene has the perfect mix of over-the-top action-movie tropes. The actions of the Fast and Furious main characters are so much fun because it takes well-worn tropes from the genre and pushes them to the limit, and exaggerated stunts like this are the result.

2 The Chase Through Rome

There are many epic and ridiculous moments to choose from in the chase through Rome. The pursuit goes through a series of narrow, cobbled streets. It is also packed with so many clichés that it would be unsurprising to see the characters knock over a fruit stand. There are also numerous impossible moments, such as a tourist who was close enough to record an explosion but not close enough to be even slightly singed by it. The best part of this chase, though, is an homage to the boulder scene in the Indiana Jones movie Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

In the Fast X trailer, a giant metal ball somehow gets loose and visibly bounces down the street after Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez), Dom's girlfriend. To get out of its way, Letty does a nifty trick: she jumps her motorcycle over a low wrought-iron fence, lands upright without falling, and zooms away. While this is improbable, tropes are tropes for a reason. After all, Letty returned in the Fast & Furious movie Fast Five after being presumed dead. Letty jumping a wrought iron fence should be no problem after that trick. This type of flashy moment draws audiences in, and Fast X is leaning into that in the best way.

1 Driving Down A Dam

Vin Diesel as Dom in Fast X looking surprised.

This Fast X scene is from the Super Bowl trailer, not the full trailer, but is all the more notable for this detail. The scene begins with Dom stating to Reyes that he made a fatal mistake in not taking Dom's car. With that one-liner, he squeals into a turn and is forced off the road on top of a dam, only to drive his car straight down the side of the dam. This is the ultimate power move and utterly ridiculous - as in real life the car would've fallen and then broken into pieces - making it an excellent choice to highlight in a 2023 Super Bowl movie trailer.

The obvious and logical physics of the situation would mean the car goes end-over-end and slams into the ground. Dom's wheels suddenly seem to stick to the dam, so instead, he just glides down it like a boss. No one watching is under any illusion that this is how things should work. However, it's one of those scenes that is so absolutely over-the-top ridiculous that it's hard not to love it. The upshot of moments like this ultimately is that Fast X will likely be impossible not to enjoy.
