Michelle Rodriguez talks about working with Paul Walker's daughter in the upcoming film Fast X. Set to premiere on May 19, the latest entry in the Fast & Furious franchise sees Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his team facing a new threat. Walker, who portrayed Brian O'Conner, first appeared in 2001's The Fast and the Furious and served as one of the series' primary protagonists. After his passing in 2013, Walker's absence has been felt by fans and fellow cast members, and Brian's story concluded with him choosing to spend time with Mia (Jordana Brewster) and their family.

Walker's family has remained close to those involved with the films, with Diesel having been at Walker's daughter's wedding in 2021. Meadow Walker is reportedly part of the Fast X cast, and while speaking with Extra, Rodriguez talks about the experience of working with her and says having a "blessing" from Walker's family was important. Read Rodriguez's comments regarding working with Meadow Walker below:

"It’s really hard to move on without a blessing of some sort from that family because it’s everything… Without kind of like that love from Meadow and Cody [Walker] and the family, we would be lost a little bit."

Everything We've Learned About Fast X So Far

Vin Diesel as Dom Toretto driving a car in Fast X trailer

Along with Diesel and Rodriguez, Fast X will see the returns of Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Sung Kang, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, and Helen Mirren. It was also revealed that Jason Momoa will be playing the son of Hernan Reyes, a previous adversary of Dom's who was killed by Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) in Fast Five. The Fast X trailer presented a closer look at Momoa's villain, as he seeks revenge for what Dom did, claiming he took his family from him.

It has been teased that other enemies will reappear in the upcoming sequel, and the trailer ended by showing Cipher (Theron). Following the events of F9, Cipher was able to get away, and if she begins working alongside Dante, the two of them could prove to be a challenge for Dom and his team. In addition to Dante, another character being introduced in Fast X is Brie Larson's Tess, though not much is known about her role. Questions have been raised regarding where she may stand in the film but by the looks of it, Tess seems to be on Dom’s side.

The trailer for Fast X incorporates flashbacks from Fast Five, containing scenes with Brian and further highlighting Dante's motivations against Dom. It is worth wondering if the flashbacks will be used in the actual movie and if so, how much Walker's character will be seen. In past installments, Brian was also shown in photos and the end of F9 included a Nissan Skyline, suggesting he was driving the car. Believed to be the penultimate film in the long-running franchise, there will likely be a lot for fans to enjoy and those looking forward to finding out what happens next for Dom Toretto and his family can be sure to catch Fast X when it premieres.
