The list of possible directors replacing Justin Lin for Fast & Furious 10 include familiar names. In a shocking move, Lin stepped down from directing Fast X this week, just days after filming on the sequel began. While no specifics have been released, Lin's exit was reportedly the result of creative differences on the Fast and Furious project. Lin will, however, remain as one of the film's producers.

Lin has directed a total of five movies in the Fast franchise, starting with The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift back in 2006. He would go on to direct the next three films in the franchise, including Fast Five, which is considered by many to be one of the best movies in the series. After taking a short break to direct Star Trek Beyond, Lin came back to work on F9. Although Lin's exit from Fast X will surely delay the project, the film's creative team will continue filming second unit work until Universal Pictures finds a replacement director.

Senior film writer for THR, Borys Kit, reported in a post on Twitter that the list of potential replacement directors for Fast X include familiar names. Kit's post mentions the studio is possibly considering director David Leitch and F. Gary Gray as replacements. However, Kit also details that Leitch is thought to be currently working on a Fall Guy movie with Ryan Gosling. See Kit's Twitter post about the list of possible director replacements for Fast X below:

Although uncredited, Leitch made his directorial debut on 2014's action film, John Wick, alongside Chad Stahelski. Since then, Leitch has gone on to direct other notable projects including Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2. The director is also already connected to the Fast franchise since he ended up directing the 2019 spinoff movie, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Gray also gained a connection to the Fast franchise when he stepped in as director for 2017's The Fate of the Furious. Gray is most notable, however, for his directorial work on other films including Friday, The Italian Job, and Straight Outta Compton.

Although Lin's surprise move to step down as director of Fast X may come as a shock to many, Universal has seemingly been swift in searching for his potential replacement. It only makes sense that the studio would turn towards previous directors from the Fast franchise to step in for the latest entry. Since both Leitch and Gray have a history with the franchise, fans can rest easy knowing Fast & Furious 10 will be in good hands, whomever the studio snags for the highly-anticipated project.
