The fourth season of Fargo is expected to premiere sometime in 2019 on FX according to chairman John Landgraf. The series is a mixed black comedy/crime drama anthology created and written by Noah Hawley inspired by the 1996 film of the same name, which follows a pregnant Minnesota police chief investigating roadside homicides that ensue after a desperate car salesman hires two criminals to kidnap his wife in order to extort a hefty ransom from his wealthy father-in-law.

Even though the Golden Globe nominated series follows an anthology format, there is minor overlap of story and characters with each season taking place during a different era with a mostly different cast and plot. Last season was set in 2010 and starred Ewan McGregor as Ray and Emmit Stussy - two disgruntled twin brothers who become involved in a series of murders spurred by their feud. The season also starred Carrie Coon, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Goran Bogdan and David Thewlis. Previous seasons included actors Billy Bob Thornton, Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons.

Despite previous reports that season 3 was going to be the last of Fargo, FX chairman John Landgraf told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena on Friday that Noah Hawley is expected to have another season of Fargo out in 2019. It's not surprising that FX is pushing for another season of the show, as the last season garnered plenty of critical acclaim for the already highly praised series thanks to McGregor and Thewlis' performances. Here is what he said:

Ewan McGregor as Emmit Stussy in Fargo Season 3

“It’s not gone. Noah Hawley, who has become quite a busy bee… has told us that he has an idea that excited me enormously for a fourth cycle of Fargo and the plan is to have that ready in 2019. The anticipation is there will be another cycle of Fargo in 2019.”

It sounds like 2019 is going to be a highly anticipated year for television. Besides Fargo possibly returning, we are also going see the final season of HBO's Game of Thrones and the third season of Netflix's Stranger Things in 2019. This gives us time to theorize what the new season is going to be about and who will star in it. Right now, we can speculate that the season is going to revolve around some sort of crime or murder (considering that is the show's forte). Besides the basic themes that can be found in every season of Fargo, we can only guess what Hawley and his team will have in store for viewers.
