Fargo fans are in for a treat as the full cast and character list for season 4 of the FX show has just been revealed. Created by Noah Hawley and inspired by the Coen Brothers movie of the same name, Fargo’s first season premiered in 2014 and went on to win two Emmys. Season 2 and season 3 of Fargo continued the first season’s winning formula, and while they didn’t nab any Emmys, they received several nominations and were showered with praise by critics.

With each season set in different eras with different actors and plot lines (albeit with some overlapping characters), the crime anthology has consistently boasted a high-caliber ensemble cast that in past seasons has included Ewan McGregor, Kirsten Dunst, and Billy Bob Thornton. Despite its reputation as a quality show, the future of Fargo looked uncertain for a while, but thankfully FX confirmed that a fourth season was in the works in early 2018. A few months later, it was revealed that Chris Rock would star in Fargo season 4.

Now, we finally know who will be joining Chris Rock in the new Fargo cast after Decider’s managing editor Alex Zalben tweeted a cast and character list today. Jason Schwartzman, Jack Huston, and Bond 25’s Ben Whishaw are in season 4 and will be playing characters called Josto Fadda, Odis Weff, and Rabbi Milligan, respectively - the latter of whom could possibly be related to season 2’s Kansas City mob enforcer Mike Milligan (Bokeem Woodbine). They’re joined by talents including Jessie Buckley (Chernobyl), Salvatore Esposito (Gomorrah), and musician Andrew Bird. Check out Zalben’s tweet and the full cast and character list below:

Along with casting news, THR also revealed some information about what fans can expect from season 4 of Fargo as well. Season 4 takes place in 1950 and features a brand new setting, moving the action from Minnesota to Kansas City. The season will focus on two crime syndicates - one Italian, one African American - who have come to an uneasy peace cemented by the heads of both crime families exchanging their youngest sons. Chris Rock plays the head of one the families and - as per the son-swapping agreement - is raising his enemy’s offspring. The status quo is rocked, however, when the mafia boss of Kansas City dies during a routine surgery. FX’s synopsis describes season 4 as:

“…a story of immigration and assimilation, and the things we do for money. And as always, a story of basically decent people who are probably in over their heads. You know, Fargo."

Season 4 of Fargo is scheduled to go into production this fall in Chicago and is set for a 2020 premiere on FX. And, while there's no telling how exactly it'll measure up to previous seasons, the cast alone is reason to believe it will likely live up to expectations. For now, though, only time will tell how things end up playing out.
