Tickets are now available to purchase for Far Cry VR: Dive Into Insanity, a location-based VR experience by Zero Latency VR that brings Vaas back to the forefront. Ubisoft shared the first details about the unique VR adventure in September 2020, months after announcing the franchise's next mainline entry - Far Cry 6.

Later this year, the first-person shooter series will see a new villain ruffle feathers with Giancarlo Esposito's Antón Castillo. The dictator of a Cuba-inspired fictional island, Yara, Antón may well count among the Far Cry franchise's most formidable foes to date. It remains to be seen, however, if he'll prove as engaging and fearsome as Far Cry 3 antagonist Vaas. Interestingly enough, fan speculation suggested for a while that the sixth mainline installment might explore Vaas' origin story, a theory that Ubisoft developers later debunked. But those wanting another dose of the villain's madness can dive in headfirst for a different type of island adventure.

In partnership with Ubisoft, free-roam VR company Zero Latency VR crafted Far Cry VR: Dive Into Insanity, an immersive experience that invites fans to explore Far Cry 3's Rook Islands. The 30-minute co-op shooter can host up to eight players at once, all of whom will don VR headsets and come face-to-face with Vaas himself. Booking opportunities are numerous at present, with reservations available in Zero Latency VR facilities across the United States, UK, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Spain, and several other countries.

This isn't Ubisoft's first time dabbling in the world of location-based VR with its beloved properties. As many may recall, Prince of Persia: Dagger of Time launched last year as a VR escape room. Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell are also set to receive VR experiences, though the specifics remain vague for the time being.

Again, VR only constitutes one way in which Far Cry fans can revisit the series this year. Far Cry 6 hits stores in early October, promising a tale rife with chaos, drama, and intrigue. Players will assume the role of Dani Rojas, a Yara native who joins the resistance movement to fight back against the rule of the aforementioned Antón Castillo. Ubisoft plans to showcase more of the title during its next Ubisoft Forward event, which goes live on June 12.
