Weapon modifications are one of the easiest ways to increase firepower in Far Cry 6. Having the best weapons in the Far Cry 6 can only take Dani so far if without the appropriate attachments and mods. Gunpowder is one of the most precious materials in the game due to its use in crafting these upgrades, and it takes some effort to gather.

Gunpowder is harder to obtain than the more common materials, like recycled fasteners and vehicle scraps. Luckily, its rarity is due largely to the fact that the Far Cry 6 weapon modifications that use it tend to be more powerful.

There are a few go-to strategies to collect a solid amount of gunpowder and keep Dani's weapons in tip-top shape. Gunpowder is consistently found in a few places, and it is fairly easy to get once these places are identified.

There are three main places to find gunpowder in Far Cry 6:

  • FND Caches
  • Ambushes
  • Supply Drops

Some take more effort than others, but that usually comes with a higher chance of getting the gunpowder.

FND Caches

FND Caches can be found in military-controlled areas throughout Yara, and can be looted while completing other objectives in these zones. These caches are black-and-red chests that can be looted whenever they are found. Soldiers can be bribed to mark FND caches on Dani's map to make it easier to find them. Since these caches can be found pretty easily while completing other objectives, and they don't necessarily require any fighting, they aren't guaranteed to have gunpowder.

Ambushes

Joining an ambush is a great way to gather gunpowder. They involve attacking enemies that are guarding a cache of materials, and taking the materials inside the cache. Ambushes are randomly generated, and show up on the map as a red handgun icon when they are nearby. Since ambushes require a bit of a fight, every ambush will give at least one gunpowder. Additionally, they will likely give other crafting materials as well.

Supply Drops

Far Cry 6's supply drops are also only available in military-controlled areas, and there are a couple of ways to loot them. There is a chance to loot one stealthily without getting caught, but if this fails, Dani will have to fight off a lot of soldiers in order to get out alive. Since supply drops have the potential to put up a pretty difficult fight, they are also guaranteed to have at least one gunpowder, as well as other crafting materials.

Once enough gunpowder has been obtained, get to a workbench and start upgrading some weapons (like Far Cry's legendary MBP .50).
